Bulls Eye Zero VOC Primer?
Comments (2)ACE has had this in their "catalogue" for a while now, so any ACE store can get it as well. By Zinsser's descriptions of it, it sounds pretty promising! We've had it for a couple months now. It retails in the mid-$20's/gal. Zinsser is known for great primers. It's all we have at our ACE, besides C2 primers/paint. We purposely dropped all Kilz stuff. Just make sure to use FULL coats of primer & paint. DON'T push coats too thin! Take care of you and baby during pregnancy! Faron...See MoreCan you suggest a low voc/odor caulk for around hvac vents?
Comments (3)Yeah, I'm not sure why it's listed as low voc. Maybe VOCs are different than cancer, birth defect, and dizziness causing fumes. I'm sure some of these warnings concern eating the stuff, but there are some very clear inhalation warnings on the tube that I have not seen on all latex caulks. Maybe it is low VOC after it dries? Anyway, the reason I want to do this is that the gap between the drywall and vent box leads directly to the very cold, dusty attic. When air rushes out of the vent it creates somewhat of a Bernoulli or Venturi effect and causes a suction of air from the gap. I'd like to seal all gaps leading to the attic. I might even install air-tight recessed light cans, but the caulking is the first easy step....See MoreZero VOC, Behr vs Olympic Icon review
Comments (3)I need to correct something in my original post. I said Natura had bad characteristics. It was the Eco Spec. Sorry. I should have checked the cans in my basement. Both paints I reviewed in my original post are labled zero VOC and low odor. Only one of them is both, Olympic Icon. I think almost all the people who want zero VOC also want no chemical smell which is why I posted my experiences. Once you've invested in Behr your tempted to keep going as that is the easier course so I wanted to save someone the trouble. I'll add my time tested reviews of the other paints in my house. BM Super Spec. in Simply White - On walls/ceilings/trim/doors for 13 years. Really can't complain. This was the paint our houses started with. BM Eco Spec. - unnaturally glossy shine and dripped alot and didn't go on smoothly. SW Harmony - Weak paint. Shows every scratch or mark. Has not aged well at all. I would not use it again. SW Duration - Seemed fine while I had it up. Olympic Premium - No marks on walls or chips on corners and this is in our master bedroom where the dogs run in and out at top speed, slamming into walls chasing toys and going around the corners in race mode. Been up for years and is the best looking aged paint walls that we have. Freshaire (used to be carried by Home Depot) - Really loved this paint. Color is luminous. Has held up very well as long as you don't scrub it with water. A wipe down is fine. I don't know if it is made any more but I would use this again. This was really a top paint and I wish someone would bring it back....See MoreScrubbable FLAT Paint, zero/low VOC?
Comments (3)What? That is crazy. Why? We used duration and emerald in old house. Loved it. We did eggshell in the new one and I can wipe it down just fine. Kind of like it better than old house. It was the contractor grade version by SW called Promar 200 or 400. Cant remember which one they used. Can go in the garage if you wanted to know which one it was. Just looked at the site and they have a lot more now I never heard of. One is called Harmony. Comes in Eggshell and Flat. About same price range as Duration/Emerald....See MoreChristopher Nelson Wallcovering and Painting
