I didn't know you were planning on repainting. is the woodwork going to be dark as in your other rooms? Then I vote for lighter walls, though I like the Desert Sand curtains I think you might have to go darker with curtains than walls. Or someone mentioned doing the bottoms using the Chocolate Chip fabric on the Sand panels?

Love chocolate chip with the first wall, very dramatic. Your trim would have to be white or cream though I think for that.

All the wood trim in our home is dark stained wood. We did paint the trim in the half bath because of it's small size and the over the potty cabinet that was my Daddy's, but neither of us really care for painted trim.

Our Main entry is painted a dark chocolate brown and it looks great with the darker trim. If I had a decent photo of it I'd share it with you. It's a gloomy day or I'd take one.

Les is the one that mentioned using a third of the full length in sand with the bottom half in chocolate. I'd need ten panels and I don't want to spend the extra money when that style is not the MCM feel that I'm going for here. Gorgeous as it would be it won't do in this room. I have done something similar in our daughter's room.

Love the panels in #5 with the paint in #5. I don't think either panel goes very well with the peach.

Unless it looks a lot better IRL I think you're going to have to paint. Peach just isn't doing it. But I still think you need a light wall color with the dark trim (that I love!). Can you take a pic of panels in a room with the dark trim and then play with the wall color? I'm assuming you will hang these far out to the sides so we can see that gorgeous trim!

I like the clear off white of the lampshade, against the paler panel; it's a crisper look with the desert sand. My 2nd choice would be #2, the darkest brown,
for contrast with the paler panel.

Love the chocolate chip panel, it's bolder and the colors in it are very nice together. I too like the paint in #5.

I've planned on painting the walls all along. I'm tired of the peach tone on tone stripe and I was just waiting to find the right WTs before choosing the wall color. My hubby just saw them for the first time this evening when he came home from work. He doesn't care for the Desert Sand, but liked the Chocolate Chip quite well. I'm glad he had a distinct opinion since our son didn't. I forgot to ask our (2 year old) grandson.

As for wall color, I have to take into consideration the walls that can be viewed from this room. To one side is the library and it's a very dark green (think Green Bay Packers), the foyer is on the other side is almost as dark as the background of the Chocolate Chip (see the walls in #2 above) and beyond that is the Gentleman's Parlor which will be painted somewhere close to # 3 or 6 walls above.

I still really really like the paint in #5 above as Rhonda mentioned, but am a bit afraid it's too dark with the two dark rooms on either side of it even if eventually we'll have french doors into the library.

You know what, I really like the color of the Gentleman's parlor with the Chocolate Chip panels. Do you have any objections to painting the two parlors the same color? What colors are in any upholstery in Ladies' parlor? You already know that color works with the trim color.

ajasmama, I think the color for the GP is a little too green toned to work in the LP. I'll have to look at the color better before I buy a different color for the LP though.
In the colors above I'm liking #1 for how well it works with the rooms on either side of it and the Chocolate Chip too, of course.
As for the upholstery, I have an ivory loveseat, but not sure it will stay forever. If when it's all put together I may not like it in there anymore and list it on CL. I love it, but it's not MCM so I'm doubtful it'll stay longer than my finding some else.
I have two wing chairs I bought to do Magnaverde's painted leather look on. They are traditional, but think they might work painted in the rusty brown of the one leaves. We'll see, if not they'll go in the GP or Library. I'd really love a couple slipper chairs and a neat MCM loveseat along with my MCM wood pieces.

I like the second #1 better than the first #1, but still wonder if it provides enough contrast with the trim.

I'm sure it will be just fine. Though we love our stained wood trim it's not going to show much in this room. Well at least not on the windows. Crazy to go to all this work and then hide it with window treatments, isn't it? There will be no sheers though. I have old fashioned style roller shades.

I absolutely love the first number one, but realize it's too dark once I really thought about it. I'm really liking the chocolate milk color in the second #one. If we have a light enough day tomorrow I'll get our my paint chips and take some photos with the trim in the foyer.
I could hang a panel over the doors rod to give an idea of how the Chocolate Chip will look with the wood trim too. That room is so hard to get a good color photo of though.

Is there a rusty color in some of the leaves in the chocolate panels? That is what I would go for, since you have mentioned that all the wood in the space will be dark. I think you need something warmer with more impact than another brown on the walls.

Les, that would be my favorite choice too, but not sure about that with the rooms this one opens up to (with five foot doorways) being so dark I should put another dark color on the walls. I was originally think cream/Ivory for the upholstered furniture, but now I maybe going with the rusty instead.
What about going with something like #5 in the first group? It's rusty yet not so dark as #1.

A few suggestions from Benjamin Moore. Of course, the best test is to see the real fabric, but here are some that caught my eye: Harvest Bronze, Bronze Tone, Burnt Caramel and in the Affinity Paint line, Masada and Buttered Yam.

Not sure what the upholstered pieces look like, so it is hard to think about color, but you might consider this. I like how it picks up on the lines in the leaves, and brings in some silver and some blue to balance the brown tones.

That raises another alternative for the wall color. A soft blue or grey could be very sophisticated. Look at BM Affinity colors Solitude, Nightingale and Eternity.

Those colors also seem to work with the stripe fabric. That fabric would allow you to bring in some other prints in a chair, and in pillows. something a bit more feminine to compliment the ladies parlor designation.

Odd man out here...I love six, but I'm in a lighter phase I guess. :)

Thanks Les, I'll have to check out those paint colors online. It's snowing here so I don't care to drive into the city. Although with fresh snow and warmer temps it would be a good day to get the car washed. I just don't care for how others drive as if the roads are perfect.
I really like that fabric. Rich in color and texture. If I keep the wing chairs that I bought for this room, they'll be painted Magnaverde style depending on the wall color. The loveseat will most likely be replaced since it's a traditional that, in my opinion, might not transfer well even after reupholstering to fit the room. The chairs just might though. I think wing chairs are timeless. We'll see though. If not off the Library they'll go. I used to be able to visualize better than I have lately. Too much going on I guess.

Lori, hubby says the chocolate chip and though this is my room I welcomed his decisiveness. And I'm a "Fall" so those colors work well for me. Make me look my best. Ha!

ajsmama, I think six is either the same as the second set #one, so yes I think it would look good. Chocolate Milk with Chocolate Chip sounds right up my alley since I'm admittedly a chocoholic. :P
