Nah... nothing on TV is so important that I need to scramble for a backup.

I own plenty of DVD's and VHS movies. When my satellite goes out, I watch one of the 200+ movies I already own.

I'm an antenna watcher anyway and have a couple battery TVs for when power goes out. Unfortunately, they're going to be worthless by summer. So, then I guess it's radio or the internet, or a book, a walk, a nap, call or see a friend or grab a beer and a snack!

There are certain programs that I enjoy.
I'm NOT consummed by tv.
Have other outlets, but I like my programs.
I bought my portable tv, cause we have outages particularly with strong storms. Don't use it often, but it DOES come in handy.
Rely on that tv for the news, etc.
Comes in handy for certain purposes.

Seriously, we don't have back up for that. Don't even have battery op TVs, just radios. We used to have DirecTV, which would go out in heavy rain/storms. That was frustrating, just when the tornado siren goes off... bam, so does the TV coverage of the weather. Err! We just have the battery radio on stand by when the weather gets bad. Now we have ATT's fiber optic something... I don't know, it was a husband thing. I guess it won't do that since it's underground. It hasn't failed yet, but we've only had it a few months.

Generally, if the source for TV went out we'd just play more video games. ;o) The Wii will still work! If the power is out, we just talk and play flashlight games. We aren't bored without it. It's only frustrating to me in a time of emergency, which is exactly why we should have a back up... but we don't. We get virtually no signal without cable/satellite or something. We could put up an antenna, but the home owners association would fine us... the pros and cons of a subdivision with a covenence.

We don't have back up.....I miss the computer more than I miss TV.
I always keep a book handy and a battery operated lamp in case the electricity goes out.
Sorry you missed your program. I really don't like it if something I am really interested in watching gets cut off.

You can go to ABC and pull up the program and watch it online. After you finish with your book of course.

Hey, Miss Glenda. We are on Dish...and no, we don't have a backup. I wish we did because when it's tornado season and the TV goes out, well---how do we know what's going on without a TV?! We do have a NOAA radio, but it and the real radio are usually a few minutes behind what is actually happening.

When we had storms in Oklahoma last week, there was something on one afternoon that I wanted to watch so bad that I had actually set the DVR to record it in case I forgot. Wouldn't you know...I recorded an hour's worth of storm footage because they were covering that instead of regular programming. *sigh* I keep meaning to go to ABC and watch it but keep forgetting.

Glenda, I don't have a back up either. Years ago there were a couple of night time soaps that I loved to watch, but when mandatory overtime at work consumed my life I had to give those up. Since retiring last year I just haven't watched any series except DWTS the year Emmet Smith won. I watched the beginning of the season last year, but Chloris Leachman was more than I could handle, so I dropped it. From what I've heard, there should be some pretty good contestants on this year. Time will tell.

It sure is a bummer when favorite shows are interrupted though.

Now, Miss Glenda, you quit polluting your pretty little mind. It may interfere with all your worldly travels and local community activities. Shame on you !!!! LOL!!!

Personally a backup for the internet would make me happier than a backup for the tv.

Glenda, I just fume. LOL, not that I am a big TV watcher either... but for heavens sake, don't mess with my schedule! GRRRR

Glenda I am glad to know your cable went out.Not that I am glad it went out but thanks for posting this because I live about a hr I think from you and our cable went out and did not come back on too 5am this morning.Ever one I called around here were out also.I called a friend about 20 mins away and her's was out too.I wander what happen.Thanks again for posting this.

My cable doesn't go out much but I hate it when it does. I have it on most of the time the weather staion or some old movie mostly so there is conversation in the house. I have two little battery oper TV's that will work and pick up a couple of stations at least there are human being on there That is why I bought one of those converter boxes just in case.
I have loads of movies etc but somehow access to live tv is nice to have IMHO

My backup, bought at Academy, $19, sure has come in handy when we have tornado warnings, and hurricanes coming my way.
Worth the bucks!

No backup, and my cable goes out pretty often, most recently when a road construction crew cut a main cable and tv was out for 10 days!! My cable company knows my voice now when I call. :)

Glenda, a lot of programs can be watched on the internet after airing on TV.

If cable goes out I lose TV and internet access. If that happens, I pick up any one of the many books I have or have started and read. If the power goes out, I just cry as I can't read by candle light. LOL

Will your "backup" TV work after the switch to digital? We have a small TV for stuff like that (well, actually DH took it to the hunting cabin)...but it won't work after the switch to digital.
