Well THAT was interesting

You might want to stand back for next few days as I am radioactive.

I watched the stuff go in the IV and felt it go up my arm to my shoulder. By then it quit tingling so I assume it dissipated throughout my body, particularly in the area of my left knee and thigh.

I had a bone scan today.

First they took pictures of both knees and I wish I'd taken my book. The technician was just a little bit overbearing. A little chitchat is fine but listening to some pudgy thirty something tell me why he is way and far above living in the area that I live (basically, he's not tough enough...LOLOL) for thirty minutes is a little much. I did, however, remain civil.

Then they injected the dye.

It made not difference to my outward appearance.

I know cause I checked.

My eyes didn't glow; my teeth didn't turn orange.

Nothing.

So I went shopping for two hours.

I hit three thrift stores and spent $18.

I had a blast.

Then I went to Lowe's to look at houseplants.

What a disappointment.

Nothing new...just the same o, same o.

I can make my own starts of same o same o so I left with just a ten quart bag of potting soil.

I had just enough time to run my salt covered car through a carwash before reporting at the hospital for my 'nuclear pictures'. (That's what I was told to tell the admitting receptionist: "I am here for my nuclear pictures" and he knew exactly what I was talking about.

This time I got smart and brought a book but it wasn't necessary as the tech was very nice and chatted only about generalities.

I watched the monitor a bit but was told not to read anything into what I seeing. They told me the isotope in the dye will pool in bones that are injured and attempting to heal themselves and both my left (with the new knee and the new paint) and right knee (slightly damaged with some use left in it) glowing equally.

The film will be read tomorrow and the surgeon will receive the results the next. Then the surgeon and I will have a telephone consult to tell me I'm okay but just getting old and stiff and that extra thirty pounds isn't doing me much good.....OR I'll get bad news that the bone is rotten around the new joint rod and something will have to be done.

Cross your fingers for me gang...wouldcha?

Lori
