do you eat the last serving out of the carton??

When you get to the bottom of the carton of ice cream, do you still dish it in to a pretty dish, or do you eat it out of the carton?

Me, I like a pretty dish. :)

Depends.....there are dishes to be washed I will use a dish but if the kitchen is really clean, I will eat the rest out of the carton.

I like my ice cream in one of those big coffee cups, so I can old it by the handle. And usually with some sort of topping (chocolate sauce, melted peanut butter, butterscotch)--so I never eat it out of the carton. My cat cleans off the lid, though, when I take the last serving.

Cupcake Shows. . . I LOVE that term, and had never heard it before, but it fits so perfectly, although I had heard about a show called something like: "Cupcake Wars", or something like that. Contestants try to outdo each other, making the best cupcakes. I don't care much for Barefoot Contessa, or Pioneer Woman, but Paula just sends shivers up my spine. I don't know what it is about her. I love her hair and her eyes. She is just so 'secksy', (to 'this old man'). But she makes me want to puke with her CONSTANT "ya'lls". I mean 'every other word'!!!! Does anyone think that maybe she is told to do that? Anywhooo, if I had a portrait of Paula Dean, it would be up on my bedroom wall, (pant, pant). Forgive me for getting off topic. And now . . . back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Fried shrimp, scallops, and oysters, very rare prime rib, some cheese tortellini with pesto cream sauce, some corn on the cob dripping with real butter, Red Lobster's cheddar bay biscuits, homemade yeasty rolls with a half stick of butter, a slice of custard pie and a slice of cherry pie. Then when I was done, somebody to roll me into a hole in the ground.

Do You Find When You Go Out To Eat...........?

DH and I always order the same pizza from our favorite place: Medium thin crust S.O.S. (sausage, onion, spinach). If I'm eating out I usually order something I'm not going to fuss over making at home. I like my own hamburgers, steaks, chops, chicken, etc. I'm a slow eater, and I can't eat much all at once, so those lunches of a cup of soup or small salad and half a sandwich (maybe egg or tuna salad on whole wheat) are *plenty* for me. I never have room for the 'sides' of slaw or fries or chips.

Where do you eat your meals and why do you like to eat there?

Sorry for the yellowed image, it's gloomy outside today, but this is the view from the eating area in our kitchen. Here is where we eat 95% of our meals during cool or super hot weather, if it's mild or warm, we eat out side at the table. Our dining room is for larger gatherings. I love it there too, but rarely would the two of us choose to eat there alone. I've cleaned up the table so that the bottles of vitamins, supplements and Kleenex box are on the island, normally they live at DH's place! The tv is on the counter, to the right of the table. DH hates it being on in the mornings because it disturbs his reading of the paper, however we are usually watching the news or Jeopardy during dinner. Rarely do we eat in the den. We just don't find it comfortable to hang over the low coffee table while sitting on the sofa. Although that said, DH takes a tray in there when I'm having a Mahjongg game at the kitchen table. DD moved to Georgia and has the above areas and a darling screened in porch. I think that would be the best of both worlds.

If it is just a smidgen, I eat it from the carton. If it is more like a serving size I put it in a soup cup with a handle. That is what I always use for ice cream.

My cat likes to lick the lid too.

I do the same thing because at that point I may add a little something to what's left of the ice cream like some pineapple, or caramel sauce...just anything to make it last a little longer..lol.

I scoop as much as I can into a nice bowl for myself, then give the carton to my dog as a treat.

DH is the ice cream lover....and he would NEVER leave a carton almost empty.

I dish it up....It sounds gross to me to eat out of the carton. Thinking about it though, my DH probably would eat out of the carton.

Ice cream seems to go to waste around here, no one eats it up. Now if it were homemade, that might be a different story.

If it's a pint container with a dab left, yes, I'll spoon it out of the carton. Right now DH and I are 'working on' a gallon of Roselani's Chocolate Mac Nut; I wouldn't eat out of a gallon container. Never thought about that. Funny.

I once gave an almost empty pint of butter pecan to our Westie. He fussed over it for quite a while. When he finished there was a little pile of nuts in the bottom. (Maybe he thought I was trying to sneak some meds past him.)

The last serving of ice cream goes to the dogs. The smaller one gets the lid & the big one gets the box. It is fun to watch.

Yep - usually out of the carton.

And if it's one of the flat-sided boxes ...

... sometimes lick the residue, after it's been flattened.

Don't have a dog - haven't tried it on the cats.

ole joyfuelled ... with a little help from ice cream

lol paula pa. Well, Breyers ice cream comes in these quart or less containers now days. I don't even bother using a bowl - I eat it from the carton. Heck, there's no one here but me so I can do what I want! Portion size? What's portion size?

The bigger containers, I use a dish.
For Ben & Jerry's size containers I don't.

I hate getting my hands sticky with ice cream. I don't care for the cartons for that reason. I like the plastic 4-litre rectangular buckets with a lid.

Regardless.....always in a dish. The kitties lick the bowl when I'm done. I'll have to give them a treat next time I buy a carton and have them go to town!
