How do I do a 'screen capture'

I installed quick screen capture, am doing the things with "Wordle" like someone posted, but don't know how to "capture" them, can't do a "save as" with this program. help?

I do it by clicking prntScrn on the top of my keyboard, then hold down the control key and click on the "c" key to copy, then I open my paint program and again hold down the control key and click the "v" key to paste it in paint. Then I crop what I want to keep and right click and send to my documents. Hope this makes sense! Maybe someone else knows another way ...I'd be interested in knowing another way to do it.

Hit the Print Scrn key (up next to the F12 key).
Then open Paint and Edit>>Paste
You can crop it or edit it and save it from there.

Instead of Paint, I use IrfanView.

Hi there. I know I've been quite quiet this past while, but I just had to jump in to this thread. I found the following quote and link after doing a quick Google search. The quote is from another forum that asked the same question: "The official word on LCD cleaning in Apple manuals is to use a solution of diluted isopropyl alcohol, no more than a 50% solution. Usually the rubbing alcohol you buy at a drugstore that is either 90% or 98% pure but 98% is pretty hard to get (you don't need it anyway). I mix 1 part water and 1 part 90% isopropyl alcohol, which works out to... um.. something just under a 50% solution. Be absolutely sure to use a very VERY soft cloth. I use a piece of soft flannel. Do NOT use paper towels or anything more abrasive than an old worn out cotton Tshirt. Absolutely do NOT use windex or anything with ammonia in it, it can etch the screen surface and can cause the plastic to go cloudy. You don't want that to happen! BTW, there is a commercial cleaning solution called something like Klear-Screen, it's pretty expensive. It is merely a 50% solution of isopropyl alcohol and water. I'm in New England -- in wooded hillside with nearby streams and ponds. After dusk, the mosquitoes get wild. I don't have a screened in porch but wish I did. I would sleep there and listen to whippoorwills and frogs and later in the summer I'd enjoy the crickets. I'd breath in the fragrance of the grass and woodlands a d pond. At dawn and dusk, I'd swoon over theusical flute like call of the wood thrush. For old time sake, I'd light a kerosene or Coleman lantern and playing cards or an attic fragrant board game. No screen porch, but large windows with screen in a woodland home. If you are lucky enough to have a screened in porch (floor too), count yourself lucky and enjoy every second on it. Breath deeply. Totally relax.

Vikki, you shouldn't have to do a Ctrl C to copy, the Print Screen key automatically copies whatever is showing on your monitor.

Bigack, download Irfanview, a free image editing application to paste (Ctrl V) your screen capture in.

Don't mean to hi-jack your thread BA...but, PoohBear...I use IrfanV for sizing and cropping my photos.....and other photo-editing things. But, I cannot get IrfanV to save anything I might want to keep (found items on the Web,etc.) unless it is a jpeg file. So, like BA, if I wanted to save a captured screen shot unless it was a jpeg file it won't let me do it. It flat won't save anything else. I usually send the file to Photofiltre (another one I use) and it allows me to change the file extension and save the item. Am I missing an IrfanV plug-in or is it something else altogether? Thanks for any help or advice......

I use HyperSnap-DX4. Lets me copy a defined area of the screen, do overlays, etc.

I hold down the printscreen button then I go over to my email and paste it in a blank email if I want or open a word or word pad and paste it thar .
