What about some shade of blue? They would be great with the orange undertones in the leather. Could be anything from navy to slate to aqua to turquoise. Of course, greens would work if you weren't tired of them. I would not do orange - they will just disappear, as the solid red does.

I think the red tones could work, but you need some pillows with a lighter neutral background and then the red tones in them. Mostly solid reds just aren't going to work against the leather - they will disappear, as we can see in the pix. Maybe something like the kilim pillows from Pottery Barn:

Then add a throw in black, or cream or light gold.

Les, thank you for those links. You had mentioned those kilim pillows to me before. My limited decorating mind can't wrap my mind around some of those patterns. Some seem a little southwestern if that makes sense. I know Turkey isn't in the southwest, so I need to broaden my vision! I love the colors in that style as well as the patchwork ones. Although, those are a little out of our price range. I'll have to wait for a sale or look for similar ones at the Home Store, Steinmart, and other such stores. I think that's part of the reason I'm struggling. We're on a budget, and sometimes those types of discount stores don't have enough of the same patterns to work together on the sofa, loveseat, and chair. I really need to find a good deal! Plus, it seems like there's a lot of shiny, silky pillows out there right now which just doesn't work with our family room.

DH doesn't care for blues, so since he has to live here, too, I'll try to keep him happy ; )

I do love green, but I had my heart set on red. Maybe I can find the perfect pillows that incorporate all of the colors I need in a pattern I love. I really do prefer the neutrals & reds as the dominant colors, but I don't mind if greens, blues, or even oranges are used to accent it. I love rich, deep colors! So I think I tend to look at those first, and those are the ones that blend into the color of the leather too much.

I also saw these (see link) which would incorporate some blue without being overpowering. Do you think these could work mixed with others with stronger color?
Can I mix the solid red ones with the patterned ones at all?
I'm glad you feel like the reds can work though. I wanted to use prints, accessories, and accents with the red hues and was feeling a little panicked that I might have to totally rethink that.

There is no reason to have all the pillows match. Florals, stripes and checks all love to cohabit.

Wow, I don't think I have ever met a guy that didn't like some form of blue! You mean he doesn't like denim blue or the color of the ocean blue or navy? A maverick! LOL

Don't think about buying expensive pillows. Go to IKEA if you have one nearby - they have lots of pillows and stuffers for them that are very reasonable.

Buy fabric dinner napkins at places like Target, sew two together and stuff with a standard 16 or 18 inch pillow form, or even old pillows that you have that don't suit your style any more. I have done lots of those, and they are a great way to find interesting fabrics, edges are already finished, you just sew them up along the lines of the existing hems in the napkins and voila, new pillows.

The ones I showed in my prior post are for ideas - no way I could spend that kind of money on pillow covers, either!

Les, we just got rid of a mostly navy sofa, and DH really doesn't like too many blues. If I find any I like, I'll bring them home and run them by him, anyway.

This is very off the wall. I was looking out the window the other day, and noticed this truck driving by, and thought "that would be a comfortable color combination", for no reason at all. Maybe look for an inexpensive striped throw with these colors? You can buy inexpensive cotton square pillows at Pier 1 Imports. Change your wall color, add a few pillows & throws, swap out a small area rug under the coffee table and a couple of accessories, and you've got a whole new look!
