Please suggest a regimen and tools/supplies for DUST
Comments (7)We live on a dirt road and are in the process of a major remodel/add-on. We're in the new room now, but the rest of the front part of the house is under "construction." We're walking on concrete floors except the bedrooms. The dust from the new addition is still settling. I have all the latest dusting supplies too, and you know what I did last week because I was sick and tired of the dust just moving around? I used Pledge. I haven't used it in years, but I was tired of the dust moving from one surface to another! I haven't tried wetting a micro-fiber cloth except on glass. I'm afraid water may hurt the wood furniture. I'll give it a try though, as long as I don't get it too wet. :) I also bought a Dyson Slim, just to use on the new wood and tile floors. I don't want any of the old dust from my old vacuum to make it's way into the new part of the house. Crazy, I know. I used it today for the first time and I noticed it didn't "blow" the dog hair like my other vacuum did when I approached it. I like it!...See MoreDusty House
Comments (9)Happs, I find myself in the same situation as you do. The dust in my home is unbearable. When I originally put my heating/air conditioning unit in, I was told to use special pleated air filter that would be good for 90 days and cost approximately $45 each. I found myself replacing them every 1-2 weeks and at that price it was ridiculous. So I started using the less expensive filters and of course the dust hasn't gotten better but it hasn't gotten worse either. I was just recently told by a commercial A/C and heating specialist, that it is very possible the return in my attic may have been put in backwards which would mean that dust is being blown into the house instead of sucked out by the return. He said it is an easy mistake to make and easy to fix -- so that will be my next attempt at fixing this problem. In addition, I will be having my attic completely cleaned out to get rid of all the very old insulation and replaced by new. I'll keep you posted. Having the ducts cleaned is a waste of time and money. Replacing the expensive filters 1-3 times a week is a waste also. Unless we can get to the actual root of the problem,I really don't imagine being able to fix it completely....See More1912 - Cool night time air is dusty-Let's clean it to cool house
Comments (4)I have HEPA air filters in multiple rooms of my house but it is still very dusty. I thought it was because the windows were open earlier in the year, because this is a dusty environment (Sierra Nevada mountains) but the windows have been closed for a month. There isn't forced air here, so it isn't the ducts. I vacuumed an entire bag's worth of dirt out of the carpets the first two months I lived here with a brand new Miele vacuum. I fixed the dryer vent which leaked. The dust still appears overnight! Help! I like the idea of a filter before the box fan although I am going to have to come up with something more attractive than duct tape to make that work in my bedroom!...See Morecat litter is making my downstairs so dusty
Comments (8)Try Fresh step so much better. I hate all that dust too plus it is not good for your cat to breath that in daily and you. I have tryed many cat litters and the pellets like yesterday's news is 100% dust free. But then you have the smell. Pretty Litter is great too just no dust no smell put price can be a little higher but can make you aware if they have certain types of problems like urinary tract infection. I would definitely use pretty litter except I have several cats and it's too costly for myself but you may find it great if you don't have too many kitties or you have a large pocketbook. Just look for a larger grain of litter if you are trying to cut down on dust....See Morenoodlesportland
