Penny I had a very similar thing happen with some salvia seeds I had saved last summer. Lost probably 98%. Believe it was a little bug that was eating them, it was just like hulls. While collecting them there were little bugs that would run away and I thought that I had got rid of all of them, obviously not. They looked like some type of little mite. jp

I'm pooped right now and happy to be crusing the web. Took a 60 mile round trip to get some flooring for the bathroom this morning. About noon took dd out to ground work with her horse. She's been working him in the small pen and doing well. TODAY THO, he seemed to be doing well again, so we put on the saddle, lunged him in a few circles. DH said he would ride him first. OMG, the horse jumped up and down, all four feet off the ground about ten different times, his back curled up like a 'C'. Thank goodness dh isn't afraid(LIKE I WAS WHILE WATCHING)and had the horse walking around shortly after. I've been in extreme adrenaline mode ever since. Worked very well while I cleaned the entire garden/horse shed. Cleaned some of the house and did some laundry, including the big stuff from the labradors big bed. Youngest dd helped me a good deal today, I'm thankful. While the oldest called and said she ran the mile at her track meet in 6 mins and 35 seconds. Thats super good for her, she's more of a cross country runner at heart. Waiting now for her to come home and finish her homework so she can go to an "Amazing Race" meet at our local college Sunday. I wish it wasn't so windy, Dh cleaned the grill, put on a new propane tank. Steaks sound good. (That horse better watch out from now on....hehehhe) Time to take a shower, I think I have sand all over my head from when the horse was bucking, tossing sand every where.

Vap, they are so huge. It's been raining so bad here. I took quick pics of them. I heard they are really expensive Bec of their size and I bought 10 . I know I drop his ball into the pot since I was playing with him. This is L. D Braithewait rose that is over 2 feet tall. I can't put anymore in ground Bec it takes too much time digging. So many underground roots and my back is shot. So, I postponed in ground roses until I hired someone to basically scoop the ground..if you know what I meant. It is too much for me . It has design all round the pot. It is heavy duty plastic pots that won't get overheated like clay pots or ceramic. I choose this Bec of our weather and heat. Vap, I hope I answered your question. I don't know how many gallons Bec I am so clueless. I will try to inquire the size since I am off like 5 days ( requested). Carol, I am so happy but it is just luck I think....lol. Cross pollination is absolutely not needed for citrus but the individual blossoms benefit from some assistance in moving pollen from the anthers to the stigmatic surface of the same plant, same flower. In outdoor conditions, wind and insects do a good job of insuring the transfer but citrus houseplants need help, perhaps by using a tiny soft brush or swab. However, knowledgeable growers will probably remove that first flower in order that the young plant can concentrate all of its energy resources into building a stronger, bigger tree body.
