Long or Short Window Coverings?

I am looking into buying window coverings for our master bedroom. I have been going back and forth between long curtains (the typical 84" length that reaches just at the floor a bit above) or doing just roman shades. The bedroom is on the smaller side so I do not want the curtains to make it feel even smaller or cluttered. It is now painted SW lively yellow with silver painted dressers, medium to dark toned wooden nightstands and a metal scrollwork headboard. Any thoughts on this?

Unfortunately I do not have a more recent picture, but these two should give you an idea of what the room and windows looks like.

Corner where windows are. The layout is now the same, the furniture pieces are just different.

The chair is gone, and there is a medium/dark toned full length mirror in the corner between the two dressers.

Hmm. If you do go with full length curtains, I'd suggest 96" curtains hung all the way to the ceiling (or so they touch the floor) in an airier, less bulky fabric than your previous curtains. I would also be tempted to put the bed diagonally under the windows so that the curtains set off your bed, and the bed obscures that the windows are a bit small and high-set. You also get to disguise the asymmetrical windows by extending the curtains over the wall on the left.

Great transformation on the room. I love apple green.

Long--and if the 84" reaches to the top of the base molding, then hang them from ring clips so they're long enough to reach to the floor. Or get 96" as birdgardner suggested.

I think I'd consider white curtains like your moldings and window trim and what looks like white striped bed covering since your wall color is such a dominant color. I think it would also keep the room looking fresh.

I think *long* are in .. I have long in my master bedroom. However I just installed short in the guest room yesterday. In the guest room I am going for a bright, casual beach cottage look. I stood back and imagined the curtains in the long and the short lengths. I wanted to keep the room light and airy. Also there will be kids using the room so I figured window sill length might be more prudent. I LOVE the way they came out. Just plain white curtains. I'm glad I went with the short length.

Sounds like a great get away spot. Since the windows are smaller and higher on the wall, for the ones in the living space you may not need anything, unless you feel you need something to soften the space. In that instance you could consider a valance/top treatment that stops just where the window tilts in. Couldn't quite tell from photo, is there art or an air return over the living space windows? Could it be moved for instance? For the bedrooms, I agree with the previous poster about mounting something close to the ceiling. Not only will it clear the windows, it will make the space taller, as mentioned. Could be most any sort of operable treatment - i.e. Natural wovens, fabric romans, or waterfall/reverse roll roller shades might all be options. Good luck

Fiona, I read an old post of yours about the Pottery Barn Clarissa chandelier. I just had two installed but cannot figure out how to hang the crystals. It says long crystal then big crystal and I understand that but it says "please make sure the drop hook is through the hole at the laciness metal ring by ?reverse location." What is reverse location? Do you remember?

Thanks. Roman blinds would look great but I do not have even an inch gap to install Roman blinds as I have installed grill on all windows for safety purpose. I have curtain rods installed. I can only hang curtains, not blinds. Electrical switchboards are those boards where we plug in our chargers and adapters. You can see it under the small window. I have two small windows on left and right side of my bed. I do not know whether I should hang same height curtains all over till 6 inches below the window sill or if I should hang two short curtains and one long curtain. Or should I hang curtains exactly till the window sill?

Thanks for the responses! I have moved the curtain rod closer to the ceiling,and I have white bedding. I just have to find the curtains now. I have been trying to find blackout curtains in white, but I have not had any luck thus far. I may have to go with an off-white or natural color.

@birdgardner, I would love to put the bed diagonally, but I have tried it and it does not work well because of the location of the vent, and the fact that the room is so small.

I would do Roman shades and not curtains at those windows, if they are just in the corner.

Rather than black out curtins (they are usually soooo heavy looking) why not a pretty fabric up/down blind?
