Another get together today (pics)

Today CarolSWFL and I met with KathyG in MI. I picked up Carol and we traveled north to meet with Kathy in Port Charlotte. There were lots of great hugging going on and we sat, ate and visited for two hours.

I had my folks along with me. They love to meet new people and have met several KTer's in the past. Dad is now 90 and has Dementia. Bernice is 86 and takes great care of him. I think Carol and Kathy enjoyed them being with us.

Lots of laughing and discussing the forums. Bet some of you had burning ears. LOL

I knew I should have charged my battery last night. It ran out of juice when we had the waitress take our pictures. This picture I received from Kathy. Sorry it is blurry but you have all seen Carol and I before.

I got a great picture of Dad too bad the flash made him blink. It's a keeper anyway, doesn't he look great for 90?

We decided that since we had so much fun we will definitely do this again next February. Thanks again Kathy for coming to meet with us. I really enjoyed getting together with you. You are a great hugger. LOL

KathyG, you have a great smile! Nita, nice to see a picture of your dad. Too bad he blinked, though. Hope you're planning to come back to Ocala next February, too!

Love hearing about KT get togethers! Sounds like a great time and I'm glad your parents were able to enjoy the visit as well.

Dedtired - that tomato stuff is actually the bruscetta mix I bought at Genuardis supermarket. I do not know what they put in it, but it really doesn't matter what time of year it is (or how ripe the tomatoes aren't LOL) it is always really good. Thanks for all the wonderful coments everyone! Looks like I'm the last to chime in as usual. I ended up working all day Sunday and into the night. It was with folks I'm fond of and hopefully they've found a new home they'll love though so I'm not complaining. Of course I had to blow off a date with my DH to try to start getting the stuff in our house under control... I'm so glad I went to the get together. What a treat meeting folks in the flesh. I'll now really notice what everyone writes, and can put face and personality to virtual voices. I have to say that after all of our focus on kitchens I was surprised at some of the conversations that happened. And it seemed like they could have gone on for hours more. We'll definitely have to do it again. And it would be great to meet the other local folks. Bill - you're a definite, especially after all the discussion! It was also fun having Mindstorm and Abfab into my still partially done kitchen. I haven't allowed too many folks in, but figured they would understand. I now have a couple of people that can vouch for the great feel of my honed granite. They did what everyone seems to do - fondle it! OT: Abfab - I think you mentioned someone local who had Marianna soapstone. Can I have that contact? You could list here, or I think still email me privately through the this site, or get my phone # from Mindstorm. Thank you so much Pauline for organizing us and telling us stories about the old days on the Garden Web. What fun! Thanks to all who came - that wss one of the more interesting afternoons I've spent recently! Emmie - I hope you're better and that you and others can join in the next time.

Raynag - Your 'splash looks perfect, like it's always been there which always says to me that it's just right. Must make you feel great. Shannon -- Thanks for the kind words about my kitchen. We just had it repainted as I wasn't loving the original wall color over time. One detail about wall color which may be useful to someone (though I know yellow kitchens are not as hot as gray right now): my cabinets are Plain & Fancy Lemon Chiffon (painted). The Farrow and Ball House White paint is nearly a dead on match. I had everything repainted in that color and I feel it improved the look of the kitchen since the walls and cabinets blend seamlessly. I know many folks want a contrasting wall color. But my thought is that with a kitchen where the cabinet runs are broken up, or there is not an overall "cabinet look," and where there are colored cabinets that lend themselves to this (or small install errors to minimize), the blending in of the walls and cabinets really helps pull things together.

is that your house beside the storm shelter?It is so so beautiful!!!!Is it a log home?That is one beautiful home!!! Before I got married my dad always made sure we had a storm shelter.We had one at the first home we lived in,than when we moved to our new home,before I and Greg married,dad built another one .But now we use a basement.I guess they are safe too!We are very scare of bad weather!We have been very blessed that no bad bad weather has hit our home since we married ,but came very close.thanks for sharing this.

Nita, your dad does look great! it was sooo nice to finally meet you, Carol and Renee last Sat. I'm hoping to be able to get together w/ you next yr too! maybe Lisa, Dances and Mimiboo can make it next yr too! hugs ~ liz

Such a great time today! I should have taken a pic of Bob and Bernice. Bob sang me a song too!
Nita, Carol and I laughed, hugged and talked about our KT friends and our families.
Plan on doing it again next year, maybe I can get to meet a few more KTer's!

BTW, your camera must be off on color, I'm sure I don't have any grey in my hair!!!
My pics come out grainy when taken inside, as there is no flash on my iPod, should have taken some outside!

See you next year! Sorry I couldn't make it this year. By Monday I was fine to get around -darn knee! At least its fixed. DH and kids said I was acting a little loopy on the meds Saturday. That would have been an interesting lunch LOL! Your Dad does look great! Glad he was able to join in the fun.

YOur dad is very handsome and doesn't look his age! My mother also has dementia. :(

But what a great group of women you are! I'm jealous! Looks like you guys had a great time.
