I have my bedroom windows covered from the half way point down. That way I can still see out the top of the window but I still have complete privacy.

An alternative would be a bottom-up shade in a semi-sheer fabric. If you have photo of window without the new sheer, you could sketch it in, and at least see if you like the proportion of the shade stopping at sill vs drape going to floor.

Sorry, I'm not a fan, it looks odd to me. I don't have a suggestion as to how to make it better other than maybe installing a shade like gwbr54 suggested.

I love the idea, love the fabric, but the odd part to me is hanging them from the rings so you see them and the rod. For that application, I think I'd want a pocket rod. Can you try it with the fabric folded over hiding the rod?

I like the cafe look with the sheets using the clips you have, but down to closer to half way would work better.

I think the light hangers at the top of the gorgeous brown drapes need a touch with orb or brown paint. Too much contrast with the rod.

Another vote for odd looking. I think I might like it if you didn't use rings and if it only came down and skimmed the sill.

I agree that rings aren't looking right there. Also agree that it should "skim the sill." It doesn't look right hanging to the floor, but if it was just to the window sill, it would look a lot better.

Ha, ya'll are funny. I swear that was what I first said I was going to do, stop them at the sill, and many said it would look funny. :p And that they should go to the floor. You had convinced me. ;)

I don't really want to be at the half way mark in the window at night. I am short, and this height gives me a better feel at night.

I don't want to do a blind, I really like this fabric. Extra since it is is something like $100/yard and I got 3 yards for $30 I think. :) But also it seems to work in the room and is bringing in the green I wanted since I will be painting the living room across the hall green.

I can try to hang it over the rod with out the clips when DS goes for a nap. Maybe fold up the fabric too and mock up a more cafe look with the sheer to the sill.

I'm with the ladies that think you need a rod pocket for the sheers. I like them long though. Very pretty overall.

Love the new fabric with the curtain fabric! I also like them long better, but agree they should either be at the halfway point or full sheers. I'm in the odd camp about them where they are now.

I forgot to mention that I like them at the height they are just not on clips. I'm thinking the rod pocket should be just high enough to hide the top window grid. That you have the best of both worlds. Privacy and light.

Another vote for the rod pocket - the gap between the fabric and the rod when hung on rings fights with all the horizontal lines on the window itself.

Floor length is still the way to go, but hemmed to the same length as the drapery, not puddled. Putting them at sill length would look odd as we already discussed, with the longer drapes, and even more odd when they only come up partway at the top of the window. Gonna look like the window is wearing a tube top. :-)

The only other issue is that they need to be much fuller - right now it looks like you tried to skimp and get away with as little fabric as possible.

I use some of my curtains 3/4 height because the windows are so tall and I want the light to come in the top. For your application, and I know there is a photo somewhere, I would put the sheer threaded on a rod, position exactly 3/4 of the way up, then hem with the hem just meeting the top of the sill. It's very attractive when it's done that way.

I would consider rod pocket with no header, almost no fullness (so, flat, essentially) and possibly a weighted hem and just to sill length. I don't know why weighted hems fell by the wayside but they really kept drapes and sheers looking tidy.

I think with a flattish treatment you could go either 1/2 or 3/4 depending upon how much view you were screening.

This is a kitchen treatment in a dining room, out of place because the way you have them hung they don't look like sheers----they look like competing curtains. I agree with palimpsest and would love to see you hang them on a rod with little or no shirting, and just down to the sill. And only pull them when you need privacy in the room.

I like that fabric color with your curtains but I'm not really understanding this window treatment either. It doesn't seem like you're going for a tailored look in there though. Maybe you could still layer in the sheers showing a portion of them at the sides but stack shutters over the windows so the uppers could be opened or open-slatted during the day.

If you need more privacy than flat tends to give vs. gathered, try two flat layers. I have done this with sheers when I didn't want fullness.
