Reducing Refrigerator Noise Transmission

In the remodel of our small Kitchen we will recess an all-freezer through the bearing wall between the Kitchen and the Living Room. The freezer will protrude about 8 inches into the Living Room into an area between a brick fireplace and a wall separating the Living Room and the Hall. This protrusion will interfere with an existing built-in cabinet in that corner of the Living Room. It houses our old TV, and assorted electronics, including rarely used turntable and records, and a CD player and tapes. This cabinet is somewhat of an eyesore.

We will have a new cabinet built in to house a flat screen TV, DVR, stereo amp and our CD player.

A potential problem is sound transmission from the new Electrolux Icon all-freezer passing into the living room.

We are getting a great deal on the freezer, but the salesperson mentioned that Electrolux units tended to be noisy. There are only a few inches between the back of the new freezer and the new cabinet in which to install either a floor to ceiling sound absorbing panel or to attach sound absorbing material to the back of the new cabinet.

Any suggestions for noise reduction are appreciated.
