They served cinnamon/sugar ff on the cruise. I didn't try them.

Still puny, and not hungry.

Shirley, I was wondering the same thing, but Texas is a fur piece away. Save us some steak Ravencajun, okay? And Shirley, your dinner sounds pretty darned good to me.

Mmmm, we just finished dinner and hubby is doing the dishes.

I made my version of Osso Bucco. I don't bother with the veal shanks, I just use an eye of round, cut into large chunks.
White wine, chicken broth, a maripoix (sp) of carrots, celery and onion, and herbs simmered for a couple of hours.

Some apple cobbler and ice cream for dessert (later). We're stuffed.

Served with mashed potatoes and carrots. White wine to drink. DH is not a drinker of any kind, but on occasion will have a glass of wine.

OH! Let me tell you what I did. I wrangled the sleeve off the neck of the bottle of wine.....it was hard as heck to take off. Used a strong paring knife. When I got to the top, off flew the "damaged" cap, and the wine was a screw-cap!
I buy this vineyard often, and assumed it was a cork. So I wrecked the cap completely when all I had to do was turn it. There is still some wine left, which I'll put into a screw cap jar.

We went out for dinner... first time since New Year's weekend. We'd gotten in to the bad (pricy) habit of eating out once and often two or three times a week and I've been working hard at getting away from doing that. Anyway, we had a barbeque chicken pizza and it was absolutely delicious!

Come on over!! I have extras!!

I made it easy on myself tonight... we had chili mac with leftover beef chili. All I had to do was cook some macaroni.

Jasdip--those bottles sure are deceptive. We were celebrating our anniversary a few years back at the resort we spent our honeymoon. We stopped and got a bottle of wine and decided we'd better get a corkscrew. Like you, I wrangled that pesky sleeve off and saw it was a screw lid. Forgot to take the corkscrew back to the store on our way home, so now we have two exactly the same. It was pretty good wine, too, considering it wasn't corked. But then, I'm no wine connesieur. (I'm pretty sure I messed up that spelling.)

Jel48, we used to eat out about that often when we were working and after we retired and moved to the boonies, there wasn't anyplace you'd want to go to very often, so I got used to cooking at home. Now I prefer it.

Ravencajun--darn it, I ate that tenderloin like I hadn't eaten in a year. Man, it was so good. I think I'd have to buy two seats on the plane to get to TX tonight. Hope you enjoyed it!

I had my Valentines dinner for ten. On the menu was sausage stuffed mushrooms, artichoke-ham bites, and a cheese ball for appetizers, butternut squash-carrot soup topped with a dollop of sour cream and chives, baby blue salad with orange slices, sweet and spicy, pecans, crumbled bleu cheese and a balsamic vinaigrette, mashed potatoes, moquechoux, sweet and sour red cabbage and of course, the star of the show....heart-shaped meatloaf. For dessert I made pink heart shaped meringues filled with chocolate and strawberry ice cream, topped with strawberries macerated in grand marnier, whipped cream, a maraschino cherry and a sprinkling of red sugar. Oh, and bretzel rolls. I am pretty tired now. I washed and put away the big serving dishes, still have the crystal to do tomorrow. Fun, but a lot of work!

We went to an Italian Restaurant with 4 other couples. I had the Tour of Italy which is a sampling of some of their finest dishes. Gary had a meat pizza. They had a special menu for Valentine's Day. Good food.

I made crabmeat and avocado salad, with chocolate milkshakes for dessert. Didn't feel like cooking a hot meal or going to a restaurant-don't like waiting for service on holidays. DH enjoyed the crab.

Ham and beans and cornbread. How romantic is that? Hubby loved it though.

We had ribeye steaks and lobster by candlelight in our kitchen. and also a glass of wine.

We had heart-shaped cheese ravioli (made by a local pasta place) and meatballs, salad, green beans, homemade hard rolls that tasted like the ones from Bertucci's, and caramel brownies laced with coffee liqueur.

And before the question is asked? Tonight will be a rerun--we have leftovers.

I was dressed to go out for dinner and my husband acted like he wasn't in a big hurry or didn't want to go at all. Finally I said I didnt even want to go. Either I wasn't that hungry or wasn't sure I wanted to go either. I had left over mac and cheese and he had a bowl of cereal with toast. What could be more romantic?

Went out to Cracker Barrel - had roast beef dinner.
