I have a few books of recipes, a recipe 3 ring binder with some older recipes, but in the most part I keep them all on the computer organized in a recipe folder. Then I print which ever one I need. I keep a backup of this file. This makes it so easy to add new ones as I find them online.

My old books from family I keep in my kitchen bookcase.

There are good free programs online for recipe management.

you guys are good........mine are just stuffed into a gallon sized storage bag. It's a pain to go thru every week. I do have desserts in a separate bag. I've always wanted to get them organized.

I have a recipe folder, with sub folders.

Appetizer
Breads
Breakfasts
Casseroles

etc. etc.

I only have two recipes printed out, and they are on the fridge, held up with magnets.

I have mine stored in a file on my computer. Some is sorted into categories. I need to spend about an hour in there and organize a little more, and weed out ones I now realize I'll never make, or that I've made and didn't like.

I have about 15 printed out that I make a good bit.

I have an entire bookcase dedicated to cookbooks and still love to go through them. But any recipe I make more than once has either been scanned or typed on the computer and filed in a recipe folder with many subfolders. the few that I make often are printed out and in a binder with tabbed categories. I believe I have done a good job of saving them on my computer and can usually find exactly what I want when I want it.

I mentioned that I cut and pasted them to my email acct (Eudora) for years...then printed or trashed them from time to time. Recently I (duh) discovered that you could put them into 'mailboxes' (as well as 'my journal' 'our travel journals', letters to keep, 'jokes/funnies') and it was my intention to transfer them to a disk. Since then I learned about 'thumb drives'? so they have been organized (mostly) in those mailboxes then are headed to 'thumb drives' and off my computer. We shall see. Very (very) slow learner here.

I have a "better Homes & Gardens cookbook program" that has hundreds of recipes and you can add your own.

once there in the program you can sort by type, meat, veggie, soup, salad, desert, etc

Or you can sort by method..stove top, crockpot, deep fry, stir fry, bake, broil, BBQ etc

Or you can sort by a particular ingredient..by example say you have a squash and your looking for new way to fix it,,put in squash and you get all the squash recipes.

and you can also make up your own sorts..like Mine, mothers, from friends, etc.

And if I can't find a recipee either in my program or online, I call my Mother...she has been seriously collecting cook books for over 40 years. According to her, at last count she has 3500 cook book. All I know is there is a big library in her old house and it is full to the ceiling with cookbooks, three more large bookshelves in her living room, a shelf near the ceiling that runs the full length of her 21ft dining room and boxes upon boxes of cookbooks in a spare bedroom upstairs, and who knows whats in her attic & basement.

All I know is that she goes to auctions and tag sales and buys them a box full at a time.

..the old fashioned way ......on 5x8 index cards in a beautiful old golden oak index file box. It can easily hold over 1000 recipes although I don't have that many and they're arranged by subject: appetizers, cookies, etc.

I love the warm look of the old oak and it reminds me of my library days. For Christmas last year I found an identical one on eBay and bought it for my DD and put in a few of her favorite recipes. She was thrilled.

Is it sort of like we used to tease my childless/wifeless and rather rich uncle ... that he was trying to find a way to take it with him?

ole joyfuelled ... but not substantially by recipes - though I`ve copied some from here ... and found some elsewhere (including some left by uncle`s wife)... that are "sort of scattered".
