Let me first say that I love them all. I particularly like number three for my house :oP But, I think I like number two with the one you have purchased because it's a bit less formal than number three. I DO NOT like it with the beaded shades though. I think for a nice blend together you should do a fabric shade instead, and they'll look lovely together.

I'm in agreement on the pendants...don't get the matched ones. One of the reason that chandy is so fabulous and will be in your house is that it appears to be a one of type of thing. It flows well with the pendants and will help deleniate the dining area from the kitchen nicely. I'm so glad we can be friends now...cuz honey you got some great freaking lighting taste. As to that one for the foyer you didn't get....have you considered a divorce???? heh heh Ok keep the man but sheesh....a lamp is a lifetime...a man....ok well they are too but the lamp will never lose it's hair :oP My chicken: (and no my house is NOT tuscan...It's just eclectic): The foyer lamp I let get away (but now I have a house for it so it's gonna be MINE!!!)

Our builder's grade lights are ridged, so I think it's more the shape (upside down Marie Antoinette Champagne glass) in my mind! kswl, I was thinking/hoping these lights are simple. So many of the other simple lights I've seen seem to skew more MCM which doesn't seem like a good fit for the house and furnishings. I was hoping for schoolhouse lights, which seemed to be everywhere and quite inexpensive up until I started shopping for light; all the ones I can find now seem to be ridiculously expensive for what they are. I'm also considering recessed cans for some rooms where we want to add ceiling fans -- in this part of the great white north, we don't need air conditioning, but the summers have been getting hotter and fans would add more comfort -- and I can't stand the look of fans with lights. In a previous life and a previous house, both in the U.S., I got all my lights from Rejuvenation and life was much simpler!

To determine the diameter of your chandelier: Measure the length and width of your room. Get your calculator (if you have one) and add the two numbers together. There is where the diameter of your chandelier comes in you need a chandelier that is 22 inches in diameter. If you are looking at a chandelier over a dining room table, figure 12 inches smaller than your table is wide. Most chandeliers have the option of an adjustable height, usually means coiling a cord, taking out a link or two, or some have a sliding mechanism that allows height adjustment. So you used a formula on how tall and wide your chandelier should be, hopefully. You now have that chandelier and your not sure how high to hang it. If you foyer has a 9 to 10 foot ceiling, the chandelier should be hung between 7 and 7.5 feet off the floor. Unless, of course, someone that lives in your home is taller than 7 or 7.5 feet that is. No one wants to bump their head of a chandelier every time they walk into your foyer. This height also helps distribute the light properly though your foyer. Now if your foyer isn't very tall, the best option for you would be a flush mounted chandelier. I have done this is my past home. I had a two story foyer, but as you entered the front door area the ceiling was 8 feet. So guess what? I hung a chandelier in the 2 story foyer area and put a flush mount in the 8 foot ceiling part. That worked out very nice, and I received many compliments. Now when we say 2 story foyer that means 11 - 12 feet or more. Many designers recommend the chandelier be aligned with the top of the stairs or just a smidgen below. Trust your eye, play with it at different heights. Or lets say your foyer is 12 foot tall and has a window over the door, well then it would make sense to center the light over the window. That way it can be seen from inside and outside. If there are no stairs and there isn't a window to center, the recommendation is to cut the foyer height in thirds. Positioning the chandelier two-thirds of that distance would be prudent as not to let the ceiling overwhelm the foyer. Usually in this case it is recommended a larger fixture than the traditional formula especially for a larger foyer. That way your fixture can be seen and your able to flood the foyer with the appropriate amount of light. As I said earlier play with it. It's your home, your opinion matters. What I have done in the past is have my electrician hang it as low as it would go in a 2 story foyer and then had them move it up and down until I thought it was aesthetically pleasing to my eye. Or if you want to decided another way use a helium balloon, simple enough right?!
