Is your main concern paint color choices? If you have a good paint store nearby, not a big box one, but Sherwin Williams or Ben Moore for example, some of them have in-house color consultants who could help you.

I haven't used her paint, but I know that Ellen Kennon, whose site I have linked below, does consulting.

We also have a poster here, Funcolors, who is a color expert. Do you have photos of your rooms and an idea of what you want to do with them? You can get lots of free opinions and help right here!

I think that it's important that the room look good to you, no matter how you perceive it as well. DH has red/green color blindness, and I selected a bright teal for our shelves and stairs in the garage. I asked him what color it was and he said gray. I said perfect. He perceives it as a more conservative color, which makes him happy...I perceive it as bright and cheerful, which makes me happy.

I would start with an inspiration piece...it can be a photo of a room or a swatch of fabric. You might want to ask a friend or a sales person or as suggested an in store color consultant about the intensity of the choice so that you don't end up with say primary colors when you want something subtle, for instance. When you have your inspiration piece, they can then help you pull colors from the fabric or picture to blend and the results will likely be good.

You can also get the Ben Moore color preview which is laid out like a rainbow and the location on the swatch will help you with intensity...the higher up, the paler, the lower down, the deeper, and going across you'll probably be able to perceive where the more yellow color tones are as they may look paler to you.

On line, Sherwin Williams has a chip it! app for free where you can select a picture, click chip it! and it will tell you what some of the key colors are in the picture based on SW paints so it will help you match colors to the picture...and it can be a picture of anything....so you can even use your own photo, of say a beach or landscape or whatever as your inspiration.

And you can always post pics here...lots of people here who would be more than happy to make helpful comments to guide you.

I think you need someone local because differences in monitors can make us all a bit color blind! Did you use a realtor? Ask your realtor if their company ever uses a Staging Designer. They are usually good with color. That might be a good place to start.

I'm sorry about your injury.

I am a very satisfied Ellen Kennon customer. I ordered her samples online and then I sent her a bunch of pictures of my house - the elements that were not going anywhere - wood floors, furniture that I was keeping, countertops, backsplashes, etc. I loved her suggestions! I am very happy I went with them.

My only issue was I too live in a small town and had to travel to pick up the paint, but that was only because I was in a hurry - procrastinated too long. I believe there's a link on her website of retail locations - she only uses Glidden professional paint.

I also think that even if your hardware store doesn't offer "official" consulting, if you tell them of your situation I bet someone there is good with colors and could help you pick in person.

AnnieDeighnaugh, that is very funny about your husband. I have a friend whose husband is also R-G colorblind and they painting a room green, to him it looks like "blood" color! Who knows if blood looks to him like it does to us, but to him the shade of green looks exactly the same as bright red. It always makes me wonder about color perception in general- if what we "see" in our minds when we look at a particular wavelength is different?
