Canvas: With Cocoa Glaze or not???

I had recently decided to go with Kraftmaid's Canvas finish and did not want a glaze due to cost and a nagging husband. lol But now I'm afraid the cabinets will not give a warm feel to my kitchen without the glaze. My island is praline and the floor is a dark Sienna Hickory. What do you suggest? Glaze or no glaze?

In my opinion, no to glaze. The praline island will warm up your kitchen enough, and if you wanted to glaze, that is where I would do it on the wood. All the white cabinets I saw with glaze (especially from Kraftmaid) looked dirty and inconsistent. If you do the glaze make sure you look carefully at some samples to see what you will have, especially where it goops in the corners.

Hi! That's the color but it is a little grayer. I haven't picked out the granite yet. I have picked out shower tile called Calabria . It actually has some of the pieces of tile with some light tan or beige it.It is shown on a floor but there are smaller pieces to use for the shower and I will probably pick up some of the same tile for the floor. It picks up the gray blue color then has some browns beige and gray in it. I haven't figured out the floor yet .I have chosen Brizo "Vesi" Brushed bronze fixures for shower and sink faucet. So I probably would want biscuit color sink and toilet don't you think? I will have crown moulding in white and the doors will be white though. I appreciate your input!

I've just ordered the canvas with cocoa glazing and have gone through at least 8 different counter top choices and am starting over! I cannot find anything I like. Viatera Royal Teak looked GREAT with the cabinets, but too busy and outdated said one. Plus I have one wall of bricks which is really hard to find something to look good with that and faux colored walls?! Anyone? anyone? Nancy Jara - I was told to go for the all plywood cabinets.

My husband does lawn maintenance on several lots and properties for a high end home builder. I met with the local cabinet company that supplies this home builder with all it's cabinetry work and the salesman shared with me a lot of the ways the home builder saves money and still provides a "high end" kitchen. The most important thing was that the builder uses particle board instead of plywood on everything but the end cabinets. He does full extension drawers on some, but not all cabinets. He doesn't even use the soft close hinges or drawer slides. I have seen several of the model homes from this builder and they are stunning, especially the kitchens. If the cabinet company offers a warranty on it, then all the better. I really don't think it's something you'll spend a lot of time thinking about once they're installed. Therefore, I would think you'd be fine with the particle board, except maybe doing the ends, sink cabinet, or the heavy drawers in plywood, as previously mentioned. HTH!

You should get a touch up kit with every order that contains a sink base. I always order extra, just in case. If you can't find yours, contact your dealer to order another one. It's only about $15 or so.

skip the glaze-you haven't mentionned counters-that element factors in significantly when the total feel is calculated.

We were thinking Santa Cecilia granite, but I have been looking at allen + roth quartz called Brockeye as well.

Personally LOVE the glaze since I think it gives it depth and warmth.
Either way, I'm sure your kitchen will be lovely and warm with your wood floors.

I'm not a fan of the glaze. I would rather have a genuine warm look through other materials instead of faux-rustic.

Skip the glaze. Your kitchen can feel warm without it and I think the options you are looking at for counters will warm it up just fine. I skipped my glaze at the last second on my white cabinets and I couldn't be happier with my decision.
