Thoughts on dish drawer organizers
Comments (9)I initially wanted one, but never got around to getting it, and at this point I don't think it is necessary. Might depend on whether your dishes rattle around or not; ours are stoneware and pretty much stay where we put them, and I don't see the need for it. I'd try it without first and see if it bugs you--they're easy to add!...See MoreWhere can I get good, real wood drawer organizers?
Comments (25)As several people have confirmed, the drawer dividers I made use the Lee Valley brackets. I also used 1/4" thick 4" wide poplar boards from Lowe's. So all I needed to do was rip the boards to width (I used a table saw, but you could probably use a circular saw and a straight edge.) And then carefully cut the boards to length (I used a sliding miter saw, but you could also use a miter box and a sharp hand saw, or a square and a circular saw.) Most of the dividers are about 3 1/2" tall, but for the silverware dividers, I made them about 2" tall to make reaching the silverware easier. I also considered making frames within the drawer like lowspark did, but I decided that I like the look without frames. Also even if I decide to remove the dividers, the holes made by the sharp prongs on the brass dividers are small enough that they'd probably never be noticed....See MoreDrawer organizers for dishes
Comments (9)I expected to have to use some sort of pegboard system or the Ikea plate holders in our drawers, but decided to try Cushy Cupboard liner first after reading about it on this forum. For two years that's all we've been using. Occasionally we have minor shifting after vigorous drawer pulling or closing by DH & DS, but the dishes have never crashed together. I'm very pleased with Cushy Cupboard. I had to order it online & have never seen it in a store. It's more expensive than other shelf liners but it really gets the job done. However, you do not want to use it where there is any proximity to heat, a hot utensil, or leaking cans....See MoreRev-A-Shelf vs. drawer dividers
Comments (6)Funny you ask. We just installed one this week. I LOVE mine. I mainly use it for the lids. I have two Le Crueset pans in the pan section. They are heavy and I don't use them very often. I have a pot drawer, and they were getting in the way in there. I had the lids in the drawer also, and they were on one side, taking up too much space and never staying put. I have a deep drawer, but it didn't have a good divider for the lids. I do prefer using the drawer for the pans that I use the most, and the rev-a-shelf for all lids, and some pans. Its very sturdy the way we installed it. Its screwed into the bottom of the cabinet. I like having a pot drawer/and the rev-a-shelf. Guess it depends on how many pots and pans you have. I now have enough room because the lids are out of the way....See MoreMelissa Houser
