well shrock and kemper are actually both owned by the same company. I don't know anythign about Decora. Which kemper were you looking at?????? I've got Northrope in Amaretto Creme Glaze.

I am looking at the Warwick Door Amaretto Creme Glaze. I started out with the Toasted Almond, but I am afraid of it looking yellow. Are you happy with the Amaretto Creme Glaze? Does it look bright white? Our original plans were coffee glazed cherry, but I really want a open kitchen and was scared of closing it up with the dark cabinets.

When I was pricing out my old kitchen design, the Decora was more expensive than the Kemper. I know Decora does come standard with plywood sides and full extension soft close drawers while these are upgrades in Kemper. I'm wondering if they priced those upgrades into your Kemper quote.

Your choice of door style and color can have a significant impact on the final cost. In some cases, a special glaze or paint finish can be a 20% upcharge. In Decora, the Antique Bronze (cream w/brown glaze) finish was a 7% upcharge while the Eggshell & White paint finishes were a 15% upcharge. In Kemper, the Amaretto Creme or Toasted Almond are a 12% upcharge.

You might want to take a look at buycabinets.com. They have a spec. book that shows the retail list prices for the Kemper cabinets. They call them Somersby. I'm not sure what buycabinets discount from retail is but Costco had a 67% discount off retail on Kemper cabinets for comparison.
The Warwick door style is the same as the Tyson one in Somersby and is the second most expensive door style even more than most of the door styles in Cherry.

If you love this door style, you're in luck since you can really shop around as Kemper, Schrock, Thomasville (Home Depot), Diamond (Lowes), and Somersby are all pretty much the same cabinets.

WOW lindley1, thanks for all the information. I am off to research that now. My husband did request an upgrade to plywood sides, drawer boxes and self close drawers; that must explain the quote increase. I guess these were standard in the Decora.

Ahh , I had the same issue with colors. I didn't want stark white but I didn't want them too creamy either. The toasted almond is VERY yellowy. But have a peek at mine.
We had really bad lighting in there when that was taken and I was using a bad camera, and they're sitting on freshly plastered white walls - so they appear creamy.

BUT now with the walls painted and the dark granite in place they seem much whiter - you can see the cabinets in this pic a little :(This was yesterday in natural light - no flash)

and my doors only have a small area for the glaze to pick up, so it's less overall than another door would have. the Kemper white is very very very white though, so I had to take that into consideration too. So far I'm happy though I haven't yet moved in....so I can't really can't see the whole thing together as one but I think they're the right blend of white and not quite white that I was looking for.

Thanks buffettgirl, I love your kitchen. The dark granite is perfect and it does look like they are a perfect white/not too white. We have dark floors too so I think that will look great with them.

my floors are dark too, though I haven't seen them since the day they were installed, so I have no clue how it all looks!!!

Not every Costco store sells cabinets here (I'm in the Seattle area). We have a Costco Home store which sells Pacific Crest and another regular Costco store which sells Kemper/Schrock.

We have Decora in Chantille (no glaze). We have the Toulan door style.

You can see pics on the "seafoam green granite" posts of mine from today and yesterday.

I don't know anything about Kemper. We are pretty happy with Decora but if you have issues after you receive your stuff it takes them 2 weeks to turnaround replacement pieces.
