I was vilified for my opinions on this in another thread. They haven't changed and I'm-a-growling with you! This is disgusting.

But then again, if people would not watch the shows, buy the books, contribute to the fundraisers....

I feel that way too cynic. If Oprah ask the Suleman mom to be on her show, I not turn it on.

....this seems to be her "business": producing babies....she's never done anything else, it seems, unless you call being a professional student her "calling". It just makes me sick.

If she gets a bunch of deals and money what is to stop enterprising (greedy) people from doing this on purpose in the future. I think she should be told to raise them on her own since she wanted this to happen, and the Dr should be brought up on charges. This whole situation makes me sick.

I saw that "newly hired spokesperson" on TV. She is smart, slick and gave all the right answers to the reporters' questions.

I read this morning, nobody is jumping to offer all these freebies to her. Yet. If she has a hire spokesperson who knows but no companies have offered their support yet.Other than free disposable diapers....

Its a sad situation for the children is all I know for sure.

These won't be the first kids to be exploited by their parents. DD used to live in low-income housing and you'd be surprised how many young fathers always had their beer but the babies didn't always have milk or very much food. The only reason these parents got assistance was BECAUSE they had children, but food stamps got traded fifty-cents on the dollar for cash. Now they've got debit cards but they can still buy groceries for someone else who'll give them cash later, to be spent on beer and cigarettes. Let's don't get me started on that.

If Oprah has this woman on her show I'm going to send an e-mail of protest. After all, she did say she wasn't going to use her show to promote things she didn't believe in after those skinheads got in a fight back-stage that time. Let Jerry Springer interview Ms. Suleman instead. LOL

I agree that when the grandfather said money was not a problem I think he was just trying to cover up the fact that they have to live modestly. And you know what that means, we're all going to be helping raise those kids. I don't guess the donor has to pay child support. He said something about having another home somewhere, I thought, but that might've been just to cover the embarrassment.

I can't imagine having 8 crying babies, 24-7. You know that's going to happen.

I thought I heard that she said her mom and dad were supportive in her decision...then I read this from her mom. I'd hate to have my daughter move in and have 14 kids and still expect to live with me! I'd love to watch her on any show just to hear how she expects to raise and care for her family now. I'm curious to see what she expects it to be like.

I already wrote Oprah, letting her know my thoughts about the matter. I imagine there has been a large outcry by O's fans.

I'm hoping O does the right thing, and that is to just ignore the woman.

This woman is getting exactly what she wanted...attention! How sad for all those children.

Sadly, there are fourteen children who, as all children do not, never asked to be placed in this situation. This family will need a lot of help to raise all of those children. Our feelings of disgust with the mother cannot go against the needs of those children. If the mother profits as well, so be it. It is better to serve the children than punish the mother.

Women who give birth to six, seven or eight babies are often showered with dazzling gifts from big corporations, local businesses and strangers. But that is not happening with the Southern California mother who delivered octuplets last week.

The news that she is a single mother with six other children  and that all 14 were conceived by having embryos implanted  seems to have turned off many people, and companies are not exactly rushing to get publicity by piling on the freebies.

"I think it's a calamity," said publicist David Brokaw, who has handled crises for celebrities. "I don't see, the way this is shaped, how you can say much about it in terms of something favorable."

Makers of diapers, formula and other products would probably want to steer clear of her, Brokaw said. He suggested she lie low for now and concentrate on crafting an image as a responsible parent.

Gerber spokesman David Mortazavi said that if the baby-food maker was planning to do something for the family, it probably would have done it already, and that the octuplets' birth was not on Gerber's radar. He would not elaborate.

Procter & Gamble spokeswoman Tricia Higgins said that the maker of Pampers does not actively seek out parents to sponsor, but that the octuplets' mother can ask for what is typically provided in multiple births: a jumbo pack of diapers for each child, baby wipes, and coupons for discounts. That is unlikely to last Suleman a week.

Conservative radio talk show host Bill Handel in Los Angeles, who has branded the births "freakish," said on the air Tuesday that people are ready to boycott any corporations that help the octuplets or their mother.

This is so sad...I agree somewhat with Chaplainkent, the kids will now suffer if someone doesn't help her. I hate to see any child suffer. I also hate to see someone milk the system and get greedy. I'm on the fence with this one....those poor kids are what I keep thinking of. I just wish people would be responsible when using fertility drugs. I am not against them at all but this woman was clearly being selfish and stupid! She will have to get help and it will be tax payers $$ eventually I'm afraid. I am very curious to hear from her, can't until she breaks her silence to see what the he!! she was thinking!

Yes, all the children will suffer, not only the octupulets but the other 6 children too.

She didn't think anything over having all these kids. Not at all.

I think the doctors own up to responsiblity for allowing that to happen.

There is no doubt in my mind that the children will be fed, and cared for, though it won't be the mother providing the things they need, and she does not seem workbrickle enough to take care of them herself. No one person could care for a brood like that themselves anyway.

I imagine that local people will step forward and adopt the family and see to their care. Possible a church or churches will help them if no big $$$ come through for her.

I feel sorry that none of those children have a father, or a father figure in their lives. All those poor little children already have several strikes against them.

Hopefully the grandmother hangs in there as opposed to being gone, like she said she would be. There has been no mention of any other family or friends that have helped in the past and that are ready, willing, and able to help now.
