I think the Tapmaster cost $350 (google & you will find the company that sells them). You can definitely install it now & you don't need the cabinet maker -- just a plumber (who will have to drill some small holes through the bottom of your sink cabinet & then out the front of your toe kick).

Do make sure your toekick (height) will accomodate the kickplate. Otherwise you will need to use the knee activated model.

It's been awhile since we ordered/installed- one kit might allow either application.

I told dh about the tapmaster after reading about it on here. He looked at me crazy and asked if I was lazy! What are the pro's of having one? Don't you still have to use the sink handles to change the water temp.?

Do you really have twins and triplets??? I have twins and can't imagine more multiples!

But back to tapmaster... My reason for wanting one is my sink is so large that when I am washing something, then reach up to turn the water off, the water from my hands drips all over behind the sink and on the counter.

As far as regulating the temperature and flow, is that done by foot as well?

Susan-Yep, my twins are 4 and the trio is 20 months. 3 boys, 2 girls. Life is busy for sure. How old are your twins?

Set your handles to the water temperature you'll use most often. Mine is set to tepid.

The Tapmaster lets you use both hands with economy of motion and water. For example:

Pick up slimy chicken breast and kitchen scissors. Tap and off to rinse breast. Trim that piece. Repeat.

Water is not running entire time - just in short bursts necessary to rinse each piece. No need to touch handle with slimed hands to turn on and off.

Great for rinsing dishes.

Ours are currently inoperative and I miss them. DS came home for a weekend and for reasons unbeknownst to me, decided to do projects around the house which included oiling soapstone (appreciated) and dismantling Tapmasters (not appreciated).

Someone else will have to figure out how to resurrect their operation- my tinkering has made it worse, I fear.

I have Girl/Boy 10-year olds. Things started getting easier around 8, and now things are great! Good mix of self sufficiency and no teenage angst yet. I know its coming!

The tapmaster sounds great, but I'm worried that I'd be adjusting the temp. so much that it would be pointless.

You don't even need a plumber - it's an easy DIY. Read and follow the instructions exactly.

Others on this site said they had the same concern (temp changes) but found that once they started using the Tapmaster they didn't really need to change the temp as often as they thought. I would really like one, but it's going to be one of those things that I'll get "someday" b/c of budget overruns in our kitchen remodel.

I may turn my 13-year old son loose on it...he may be able to figure out a DIY version (like the NeverMT someone else's DH figured out). Hmmm...he's going to be going w/the Pre-Engineering Career Academy in HS next year...maybe he and his classmates can figure something out (if it's legal, that is).

I bought one on Ebay for $250. There is a thread on it. It was not a very good experience. He said it was the model that had the combination knee and toekick activation but when I received it, it was only the toekick. The double activation model is about $100 more if I remember correctly. When I asked him for a partial refund he refused and wanted me to return the unit. I didn't want to return it as we had a planned timeline and this would have held things up. Let's just say customer service was not his specialty. So buyer beware.
