Anyone have the Electrolux Icon Pro CD Fridge w/ Trim Kit?

Hi all,

Onto the next decision with the refrigerator selectionÃ¯Â¿Â½

Does anyone have the Electrolux Icon Professional, Counter Depth Refrigerator WITH the Trim Kit (louvered trim kit)? This makes the fridge look like the picture below - 80 3/4 inches high and a more integrated look without the integrated price!

I have found many reviews here on GW and elsewhere about the fridge itself, but I cannot seem to find many reviews or pictures of those who also installed the trim kit.

I have that fridge without the trim kit. Be prepared to replace the ice maker often. I am very unhappy with this fridge. I have confirmed with others that Electrolux's ice makers are a continual problem. Ours broke after about 3 months. There is a flaw in the design.

I have heard about the ice maker problem and that is definitely a major con against this model. We are also looking at a KitchenAid and GE Profile. However, DH saw a very tall, integrated Thermador that he fell in love with at the appliance store. Of course, for $7999 what's not to love. But, that's way off budget for our refrigerator; so I have been trying to come up with something for him that would provide a more "integrated" look without the price and also give us a taller look.

Ours was delivered last week. We got the ICON All Fridge and Freezer. They are running and full of food, but not 'installed' yet, because our cabinets won't be here until Feb. 12th. We have the same setup as fabb. Another drawer under the meat drawer would be nice! I, too, am sensitive to noise and have remarked about how quiet they are. Ours are nearly silent which I am thankful for. We did get the kit, but won't put it in til the cabs go in. So far so good. Good luck with your decision teal123. I was glad when this one was made and so far, I think we're good.

For the most part, the standard advice is to shop around for the best of each appliance regardless of manufacturer. For instance, while GE makes a great range, their refrigerators tend to be lacking. Both Icon and Monogram score high in my book for dual fuel range/gas rangetop, & wall oven. I am not at all impressed with either brand's refrigerators. Everytime I open an Icon refrigerator I am disappointed--the exterior wrapping looks so nice then the inside is just a let down. I didn't want to be depressed everytime I went for something in the fridge so I crossed them off my list. Anyway, back to the topic at hand--manufacturers want you to buy all your appliances from them and that's why they run those rebates. Often you can find just as good an overall deal by shopping piece by piece. The only place I find it common to have all one brand of appliance is in builder houses where they are getting a killer deal with no sales tax either by doing so. In our home, we went with the Monogram 36" 6 burner rangetop, Monogram double oven, Monogram hood (only got the hood in Monogram because of the $1,000 rebate with that combo and I really didn't have a hood brand preference), 2 KA dishwashers and a Samsung refrigerator. Mom has a Viking 36" 6 burner rangetop, Miele double oven, 2 Bosch dishwashers and a KA refrigerator. The appliances coordinate nicely in both homes and neither of us have anyone comment on whether or not they all matched brandwise. Hope this helps & happy hunting!

Model # is E23BC68JPS for pro handles, or _JSS for curved desinger handles. Took very long hard look at this fridge. It looks great. This was probably my favourite-looking non-built-in fridge I saw. For 36" counter-depth-ish freestanding fridges, it's one of highest capacities you'll find. Especially impressive is available surface area of shelving. If that was a stat listed, this fridge would be tops for this size. I too avoided in-door dispenser like the plague after seeing figures how much more likely such models needed repairs vs non-dispenser models. And Electrolux in particular had major issues with this in both standard & Icon versions of this model. I ended going built-in and finding a smokin' deal (relative to built-in prices) on a Bosch unit. BTW there are at least 2 different trim kits. The louvered trim kit is the one seen in a couple images on Icon website. It looks very nice IMHO. I would have done it. It's too bad it's flush with the fridge cabinet and no option to make it flush with front of doors. I'm probably too nitpicky though? Still looks great to me, link below. I want to add to my original post that I visited an appliance store today where a salesman told me that they don't carry Electrolux at all because "it takes two months to get spare parts" when a repair is needed. That's giving me second thoughts about my appliance choices, even though I take everything salespeople say with a grain of salt. Has anybody had problems getting their Electrolux appliances repaired?

Take a look at Frigidaire. Same size as Electrolux (same company) much less expensive! We have had bot frig and freezer for 8 years - no problems.

I just bought that fridge w/o the trip kit. Actually I did not even know there was a trim kit; the cabinets are ordered so it is too late now. I had read all the reviews about the ice maker but went with it anyway because it is quiet and most of the newer fridges are so noisy. I replaced a fairly new Samsung that I loved other than the noise - you could hear it 3 rooms away. The freezer drawer on the Samsung was better, this one is a little flimsy IMO, but I like the way the ice maker works and just hope and pray it keeps working. LOL

I found this thread because someone else just asked about fridges and I wanted to provide a link.

There were complaints about the ice maker on the first fridges, so Electrolux redesigned it. Our fridge is two years old and we have the new ice maker. It's never been a problem. I do remember looking at the Frigidaire and didn't like it as much. It could be that it didn't have LED lighting.

I had the Electrolux Refridgerator about four years ago, and did indeed have the ice maker problem too. We had it serviced after about 6 months when it started to leak and malfunction. I thought that the interior was nice though and the freezer on the bottom was quite large (never even had much in it).

The trim kit that you are asking about was not an option when I bought mine.
