I bought the same sink. Granite gets installed tomorrow. I am planning on getting the faucet installed on the side so that I will be easily able to reach it.
Hopefully, I can post pics soon. Will need the plumber to come to install the faucet and hook up the sink.

We were in the same situation. We were going to order the Tricor D shaped sink and the curve of the D would have taken up extra space. What we did was order the regualr shape Tricor (I think it is the S505). With that it gave us more space behind - also ordered a Faucet that tapers in toward the sink about five inches up so it won't hit into the window molding. The faucet I ordered was the Hamat 32811.

Our cabinets are coming in on Monday so I can't say for sure that everything will work perfectly but our contractor said it should.

What type of faucet are you using?

I'm doing this on purpose, b/c I am having a beautiful mosaic backsplash behind my sink that I don't want a faucet in front of. Neither are installed yet, so I can't show you yet, but you're not alone so don't despair! It seems several of us have chosen this solution on purpose!

I have a Franke Sink and this is how I set it up. Soap on the left and Faucet on the right. I also have my dishwasher on my left if that makes a difference.

I just went thru this exact same problem on Monday. The granite guy and the plumber were both at my townhouse. I had the same type of sink except it was an Elkay ELU 2118 (D shaped). The faucet I ordered, a Brizo Floriano has a 3 inch base and requires 2" for the operating handle to move back. The sink is approximately 20" wide and my KD wanted me to have a granite backsplash (which would take up an inch from the faucet handle).

Sherilynn on this web site happened to mention how that faucet wouldn't work with a granite backsplash. Thanks to her tip, I had the plumber and the granite guy try out the configuration. Just like what you're going thru now, the faucet mounted in the center wouldn't work with that sink. The only way to make everything work is if I mounted the faucet on the side front corner.

Unfortunately, I'm way too sloppy when I do dishes and I would have water all over the place. Not to mention that I planned cork floors in the kitchen. I spent all day Tuesday looking for a comparable sink that would be more rectangular (21" x !5") and that I could get ASAP as the fabricator is ready to install the granite now.

That is how I resolved that problem. But it cost me $200 between getting a new sink and returning the other sink. I'm also pretty mad at my KD for not alerting me to this problem. Once again the GW forum has put my KD to shame. Although the KD is adamant that the faucet has a big enough arch that dish washing with the faucet on the side wouldn't be a problem. For me this configuration wouldn't work. But hopefully your faucet will have a big enough arch that it won't matter for you.

To Paddytc, your kitchen is gorgeous!

I'm redoing my kitchen and am going with the largest sink I can possibly fit into my 24"long x 24" wide sink cab, it's a D shape by Blanco. There won't be room directly behind the sink for a faucet, so I will be putting it (single handle pullout by Kohler) on the right side of the sink. Before making the decision, I went to Home Depot that had a display with the same setup to make sure it would work for me. The faucet I'm choosing has a span of 11", and I'm confident I will be happy with it. Plus, I like the look.

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one that has come upon this situation. paddytc -- your faucet looks similar to the Blanco Harvest we're getting (or maybe it is the Harvest?) So happy to see your photos! Will post some photos of ours when it's installed next week.

Offset will look fine we do it often on purpose. Another quick fix that might work for you or for others that face this problem is to change the trim around your window to a picture frame style and remove the sill that is sticking out too far for clearance issues. The only draw back is you lose the look and functionality of the sill. Another option which we also do is to bump the sink base out a little(no more than 3") to make sure there is a plenty of clearance. Before doing this make sure you are not making your walkway too narrow and that the sides of the sink base are finished on both sides so no unfinished wood is exposed.

I have the double sink version of the 405 sink you're getting, so the faucet is off center:

Our prep sink had the same problem that you're having...not enough room behind it for the faucet. So that faucet is off center too.

Casey3 Yes it is a Blanco Harvest Faucet and soap dispenser. I love my sink it is Franke PRX110-21 9 inch deep. It is a great size. I can put baking sheets, pots, etc in it and have plenty of room. I also really like have the faucet and soap off to the sides. My KD planned it that way. I don't think you would have wanted it directly behind anyway.
