Would you paint cabinets now knowing you will be painting again
Comments (4)I have a "temporary" microwave counter that I made for our kitchen, knowing that it would only be there for a few years. When we do the new kitchen, out it goes. But, even so, I did the best job I knew how to do with that counter, and it still looks good. And it's still in our kitchen, because some ten years later, we do still not have a new kitchen. So, I'm glad I made that counter when I did and put the amount of work into it that I did. Truthfully, itÂs the best looking part of the kitchen! The one problem area you might run into is matching the new painted cabinets to the old, because paint sometimes changes colors over the years. Kitchen grease will do that, but so will the sun and just oxidation. If I were going to paint now and add new painted cabinets later which I wanted to match the old, I would just go forward on the assumption that I would paint everything again when the new went in. That way everything would be guaranteed to match....See MorePick my backsplash? What would you do if this were your kitchen?
Comments (17)i like what fern4 posted. it makes the subway tile a little more interesting. i still stand by my basketweave!!!! i think you need to decide how unique you want to make your kitchen. the subway tile (or marble subways which would be nice) will certainly look great and will be the classic white kitchen. if you want that look, than go for the subways. i liked the basketweave because it is still traditional but it is something you don't see often. i also don't think it will be too busy.....mine isnt' busy at all and it is not busier than the minibricks or glass mosaics out there. have you seen vic's kitchen..... white cabinets, costa esmerelda countertops (same as my kitchen) but she chose a terracotta patterned tile. i love how it makes her kitchen "hers"...... and it looks totally different than mine. i would say decide what look you are going for, and then make your decision, because all of the ideas sound great....it's just what you want the feel to be........See MoreWhat wall color did you paint your kitchen with white cabinets?
Comments (42)BM London Fog. It looks great against our white cabinets and our quartz is VERY close to your color from what I can tell. The London Fog matches the background tone of the quartz nicely and the white cabinets give it a fresh, clean, updated look. Not the best picture because our deck outside casts a pink tone to our wall, but you can see the quartz, wall color and white door in this pic to see how they work together. Here is a better picture of the wall color over by the ovens and up against the cabinetry. It looks darker here than it typically does in the light of day....See MorePainting cabinets white. Walls are devine white. What matches well?
Comments (5)Definitely get the brightest bulbs for the can lights you can. It is amazing how lighting can transform a space. Paint could brighten the wall space. Devine white for the cabinets or the walls? Are you sure you want wood grey for the floors when everything else is so warm? You might consider finding a floor to go with the items that MUST stay like paint, counters and appliances. Maybe one with gray and beiges in it. I understand you want to paint the cabinets Devine White. I am not sure that would be the best color for those counters. Here are some beige cabinets with bright lights and similar countertops. off white kitchen cabinets to go with the counters this gray plank floor might not look terrible with the beiges in the kitchen you want to keep. here is a nice mix of beiges and gray that might be helpful in your moms kitchen...See Moregsciencechick
