What is this green stuff?

Hi, Please forgive my ignorance, but I have a green growth on the walls of my porch and now on the cement leading up to the front door. It does not look like mold... algae maybe? We have been getting alot of rain, and it is always humid here too which is probably not helping the situation.

Does anyone have any idea what it is and how I can get rid of it?

An algeacide will take care of it. The Borgs will carry it. Garden centers. Even hardware stores.

It's called hydroseeding. It is a mixture of seeds and material that holds water. Success depends on soil prep, the seed they put down and who applies it - along with follow-up watering schedule. Main advantage is that it is fast. Capt Tom

That's Marchantia polymorpha, perhaps the most common livewort worldwide. It is a bane to some commerical nursery growers when it get into their potted plants. I agree it is a cool looking plant. However if you are also trying to encourage the moss to grow as well then you will have to move the liverwort outa there as the liverwort will simply cover over the mosses in your picture. They are really neat to grow in a pot or any container with drainage. Just use a soil mix of half sand and half peat moss, get it wet, pull up some of the liverwort and press it into the soil and water with rain, distilled, or r/o water. The photo isn't entirely clear, but seems to be lichen growing on the woody stems. This is harmless to the azalea. It can be rubbed off, but you're more likely to a damage the plant by doing this than by just ignoring it.

I would look at the info on the container to verify. They use it on brick walks around here. Algae and moss grow in the paver joints that are in shade alot of the day.

The green stuff growing on the brick sounds like moss. Moss in lawns is killed using, ferrous sulfate and ferrous ammonium sulfate, including Moss-Out, Moss-Kil, Rid-Moss. It sounds safe for using on brick without damageing it.

One other point - if the conditions that encouraged the moss growth don't change, it will grow back. I'm guessing the area it's growing in is shady. The shade combined with humidity/dampness are prime conditions for it to do well.

It could be lichen which is harmless.
