The Kitchen Table

We babysat our two grandsons 3 year old and 3 month old last night. DD lives close to our older son and my brother, so while DD and DSIL went out to dinner, we ordered carry out for my brother, sister-in-law, son and his girlfriend. As we sat down to our Thai dinner, the 3 year old joined us in his high chair (as all the dining chairs were taken by adults). He had eaten earlier but wanted to join us and had a little of his toasted cheese sandwich left. As we settle in he pipes up and chirps, "I have an idea. Let's eat strawberries and ice cream!"

That was an excellent idea, but alas we had none in the house.

Our method of babysitting weekend evenings tends to turn into a family dinner of sorts. Nice way to babysit.

I'm right there with your grandson.........sounds like a good idea to me too. I'm glad you live close enough to have these family nights together.

Thank you very much for your quick response. I have lots of hot peppers planted but there were at least 4 or 5 types. One was even supposed to be a Peter Pepper. But no evidence of that yet.

That's great Lucy, we would love to see you here although our beautiful city may take a while to recover from drought and heat. I haven't been to the Riverwalk in a while, but I'm sure they are working hard to keep it green. They just opened a new section with new landscaping, so I'm sure they have a lot of work to do there. Brandon, if you do get Texas, better be prepared for a plant swapping showdown. Thanks everybody for your congrats.

I made at least a dozen scarves as Christmas gifts this past season, and had loads and loads of compliments on them. I used Red Heart pomp-a-doodle yarn, purchased at Michaels. I knit two stitches between each pompom. Very fast, very cute. I also made stuffed "aliens" for my kids and my nieces, which were a big hit. It looks as if Michaels may be discontinuing that yarn, and have replaced it with their own "Loops and Threads" pom-pom yarn. Their pompoms are much closer together; there is no way to get two stitches between the pompoms.
