Doesn't anyone use Porter Paint?
Comments (20)Hey Ya'll, I'm in Nashville and I've painted 4 houses with PP. The house I'm living in now has each room repainted at least 3-4 times. Now, I'm getting ready to sell next year and I'm struggling with "neutral colors" for the house to "quiet down" some. I love PP. Its easy to work with for me. My issues with BM is that it dries too fast for me. The older I get the slower I get painting. The PP cleans well with the Silken Touch line. I prefer the eggshell Silken Touch with its slight tecture. Vinyl Flat had a totally flat look. But I found the lesser value of paint in the Porter line is called Vinyl Flat, its easier to match up. In a former home I was able to cover spots with a light coating from a brush and never see it. My favorite colors are in the old fan deck which they will all match with their new tints. If anyone had the formula for SW Blonde, SW Restrained Gold and SW Compatible Cream from PP, please email me at sarge384@bellsouth.net. My guys are having problems matching those, they keep coming out green. I do believe that its the lighting in this store. But PP is my only paint used. Plus I can get it at less cost than BM, SW, Duron or ICI. Skeet...See MoreHas anyone used BM Titanium or White Diamonds Paint
Comments (12)A note to remember that color is *so* influenced by light, as les reminded on another thread. We have a beautiful BM light silvery blue in DD's bath, just the most amazing tone but I painted it on a door that adjoins the bath, literally right next to it but different light because it's not lit by daylight directly (the bath has a large skylight) and it comes out reddish gray! Seriously. We have titanium in a hallway and it reads silvery blue. No direct natural light (the hall opens to rooms with windows, but has no direct access to windows itself). Short version: I'd suggest getting a sample, painting it on a board or on some watercolor paper, and holding it up in your space for 24 hours to see what overtones come out. You might be surprised. For instance, enduring's version comes out green because green is the complement of the reddish tone in the cherry. If you have other tones, you might end up with what you want....See MorePics of Velvet white trim w/ white tile?

Comments (2)They didn't have the K&B one at the store this morning, so the point may be moot on that. This is a condo, and there has been two water leaks from above in one of the bathrooms, so there are currently some stains on the wall and ceiling (popcorn, have sprayed most of those stains, popcorn stays because I can't afford to take it down everywhere). There was 30 YO wallpaper in the bathrooms that I removed and pulled off some of the skim coat, so the walls need re-skimcoating, so that should take care of the stains. I guarantee you there will be more leaks in the future :). I had bought Gardex whne I was going to do the painting myself since I wasn't sure all the wallpaper paste came off. If we're re-skimcoating everything, is the Gardex really necessary?...See Moredcvoigt
