The island itself is not stained, but painted then glazed with a custom oil based glaze. The countertop is antique pine and is finished with Good Stuff for Wood - no stain.

allison, I'm so sorry for posting your island. I do not know how to remove it.

Allison: I don't want to pry but can I ask why you aren't posting pics anymore? I was going to post my finished kitchen soon and now I am wondering if there is a reason I should not.

When I registered for GW 3yrs ago, it was not part of the membership to allow GW unlimited access to our photos. I would rather GW not have "control" over them. Just a personal decision that is right for me.

I'm not sure how to delete from tinypics either Allison. I just tried to pull up pictures that I've posted and there's no way to find them since you don't have to log in to have an account. I know this is frustrating for you but I don't think Trudymom meant any harm.

allison, I would be happy to take your picture off, please show me how to. If you know how to do it on Tiny Pics, please do it. As lindybarts said, there is no account number needed.

I think the only thing you could do is go to the "contact us" link on tinypic. Then fill in the properties of the photo you want deleted and ask them to take it off. Worth a try....

I didn't know that's how Tiny Pics worked. Thought it was just like Shutterfly and Photobucket. If you don't have a good (free) website, I like Photobucket. Easy to upload, share, move and delete pictures.

Allison - I love your island top. Can you give me more detail on how it was fabricated? Where did you get the material for it? Is it really 'antique' pine or is that a type of pine? I would love to do something similar on the raised part of my island. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks. I just posted on your thread! It is really antique (old/used) pine. Purchased from a local lumber yard - they ordered what we requested. The kitchen guys - craftsmen really - took the lumber to their workshop to make the top. They joined the boards together (with biscuits and glue), sanded a little and brought to the house. They finished it with Good Stuff For Wood. Four or five coats.

I just reread the policies, and I think you are ok to post links without granting gardenweb any rights, since the "content" posted is the link, not the photos. That would seem to indicate that the way to show your pics without worrying about rights is to just post the link to the pictures, not the pictures themselves. I am not a lawyer, but I think there is a good argument for my point of view.

Thanks for the details on your island top... you've inspired me to think out of the box for my top. My cabinet manu was steering me toward an inlaid wood top which is not the look I'm going for (and very pricey). I contacted a rural guy who's card I got from the Flea Market and he says, "Sure, I've got all kinds of reclaimed lumber!" So hopeully it will work out for me!!! Thanks again!
