My shopping woes . . .

Went shopping yesterday with a group of my Retirement Community women neighbors.

We are all "seniors" or "elderly," or call us what you will.

We spent 2 hours in the Mall. We were looking mostly for everyday type clothing, nothing fancy or special.

In each store, when you got to the women's clothing areas what you saw was rack after rack of blazing colors: bright reds, greens, orange in splasshy designs, all looking to have been made for 18-20 year olds. Fabrics were clingy, with scooped necklines down to yonder.

I was looking mostly for short or long sleeved shirts to wear with jeans. A lot of them had those sleeves with the wide cuffs that have straps and buttons. Who needs that? Some were near-sheer. Tees had designs with shiny, sparkly stuff. We bought NOTHING, except one lady bought some tee shirts for her DH.

We left thinking that today's styles aren't made for the elderly, even though according to surveys, the elderly population has the money. *

Maybe that is because we can't find anyplace to spend it.

Y'think?

*That is not really true, you know, at least not in our case, but it makes a good catch line.
