I'm in Dare County, NC, to the northwest of Hatteras. We didn't have any structural damage, just a lot of debris in the yard. A couple of very large tree branches fell in my gardens but luckily one was a perennial bed so I'm hoping those plants will still come back next year. I guess it will give me an excuse to plant some new things (just not quite the way I intended). There were a number of trees down in the area as well as some extensive flooding in a few neighborhoods. But thankfully, no injuries or deaths have been reported here.

Here in Georgia we have fortunately not been hit quite as hard as states West of us, though we had some pretty bad thunderstorms this morning. I hope those in areas hardest hit are okay and my prayers are with them. We're just keeping an eye on the weather here because it's not supposed to be over yet and those storms are supposed to head straight our way! Grace

I brought my satsuma inside for the night only, and a lizard must have hitched a ride on it. Took 30 minutes to get him/her/it back outside. I have often seen the lizard laying on the leaves when watering the tree. I should have inspected the tree better before carrying it in.

I feel like c&#* but it's not the flu - just my chronic respiratory problems being made worse by my GERD. My meds are no longer working except to get rid of the acid. Doctor first said there was a new surgical treatment - now not enthusiastic about it. Pulmonologist is saying that it's not the GERD - that it's "idiopathic". Well, when one can taste it in the back of ones mouth, it sure ain't "idiopathic". I need to call my old pulmonologist who moved to Cleveland - just haven't felt well enough to fight with anyone. I guess this is how old people die- they just don't feel well enough to fight the medical system anymore. And no, my children will not do it for me - they never question what a doctor says. I guess I did a bit of too much teaching them "respect for authority"!
