Talked to hubby, now were thinking tilt cords in the center of the window would be convenient, three stops, all blinds are opened or closed and I won't be falling into the tv or grabbing behind the drape panels. Agree??

Can you live with the fact that the two or three outside mount blinds may not line up straight across? Is one large outside mount blind out of the question?

I think if you have an experienced installer, you wouldn't have an issue with them lining up across.

We have 3 (inside mount) 2" wood blinds mounted on one large window. They just didn't make one single unit that was that large. We had a VERY experienced rep. from the company come out and hang them b/c I was concerned about them lining up straight across -- it would drive me nuts if they weren't! I'm happy to say that they line up perfectly and actually look like one large unit. We ordered a wide, decorative valance to go across all 3, which helps.

What Maryelizabeth said. We have the exact same situation. My LR window is almost 10' wide, and is definitely the focal point of the room. I second the advice to hire a GOOD installer; in fact for this kind of challenge I suggest considering going with a full service company that will come out and measure as well.

I did that, because in the end the guy I used actually tweaked measurements of each blind (I also have 3 separate in that window) so that the 'seams' fall in a way that matches the edges of each window in the opening.

And yes, you can get them set so they look very much like one blind. Every morning I open them and it takes

I've got a window almost identical to the OP's, and have 2" wood slat blinds made by Hunter Douglas. The window was too wide for one blind, and for some reason I can't quite remember now now we ordered it with three blinds: single blinds over the outer windows and a double over the two inner--I think I thought at the time that the trim strips are wider between each outer window and the middle pair, although if they are it's pretty marginal. In retrospect it probably would have made more sense to get two double blinds. I have no problems with the slats lining up across the whole array, they look perfectly lined up both opened and closed. I replaced the casement cranks with round openers which are a pain to use, but do clear the blinds. Because the trim has so many angles we always have to do an outside mount, rather than hanging the blinds inside the casement. The blinds are tapeless and only have notches on the backside, so the slats do often slide out of position, especially with cats playing with them.

We have the typical wooden wands for angling the blinds and cords for pulling them up. Do think carefully about the placement of those, I made a mistake on the left-most window--I placed the wand and cord on the left side, which looks better, but because of furniture placement it's a stretch to reach them. I'd definitely advise convenient vs. hidden. I don't mind the look of the wands and cords, though the breakaway plastic tips on the cords--mandated for child safety--don't like to stay snapped together. If the appearance really bothers you, why not look into the motorized kind where there's a remote to pull them up and down?

I do find that they're heavy, and between the effort to raise them and worry that the strings will give way eventually, I only pull them up occasionally. Most of the time I just tilt them open.

I mail-ordered the blinds and the wooden valance top had returns on each window. Since I was mounting three blinds and valances across the four-window array, I had to saw off the middle returns. To cover the seam I bought little wooden letters at Michael's for our last name initial and glued them over the seam. Silly, perhaps, but it worked. If you're custom-ordering the blinds from a local shop they might be able to order you one long valance, but I took the budget route with an on-line vendor. Of course you can always add a fabric valance, though I've never gotten around to it and prefer the clean look of just the wood anyway.

Lovesummer, can you post a photo?? I did consider remotes, the Graber remote only tilts them, and all lift cords need to be on the right side of the blind, so I still would have cords in the window. For that additional cost, I'll manually close them. Do you sometimes just lift the window blind that opens?? We rarely open windows, so I think mine will be down the majority of the time.

We don't open windows that often because we have central air; when I do, I usually just tilt the blinds open and stick my hand through the spaces. It's fairly rare for us actually to pull the blinds up.

This is our small den, not a living room, so more casual than formal.

I hope to make a decision this week. It looks like your middle windows have cranks, my middles do not open. I think a triple blind looks better than having a split in the middle. My sewing logic transfers to blinds, I don't want a seam in the middle, center a full width, and split a width for the sides, especially since they are the only windows that open. I'm done overanalyzing!! Decision has been made!! Thank you...maybe I'll treat myself to remotes now that I'll have visible cords anyway. I'm going to see if I can autoprogram them to shut??
