Very nicely done! The room looks warm and welcoming. Having that pop of color above the bed might be great - a sepia print would just kind of blend in to everything, I think.

I would do the piece in a dark frame, to connect it with all the darker tones in the room, and perhaps consider finding another touch of the blue, maybe a vase on the dresser, to pull a little color around the room.

I agree with Les, I prefer the colorful print to a sepia print.
btw, someone recently posted that Iris blue is the new trendy color this year - and that's the blue in the sky of your blue dog print. I'd love to see a neck roll pillow of that blue on the bed for a touch of color. The room is very restful and gracious. Good work.

I'm a career artist, so I think is a fun question. Your room is gorgeous! You've done a really great job on it.

Yes, you could hang that artwork over the bed, but I like the colors you've chosen for the room as it is; it's very soothing and a handsome color combination. So my inclination would be to stick with those colors, or if adding another color in artwork, make it subtle. The picture you posted is cool, but there may be a better place in your house for it. I don't think the colors are right for that room. Of course, art is a personal choice thing all the way, so I'll share some of my taste with you and I won't be one bit hurt if it's absolutely not your taste.

I think something like this fabric could look stunning over your bed and would not be at all hard to do:

Have you snooped around on eBay? I don't know what money you want to spend but names like Carl Brenders, and Robert Bateman come to mind as having some stunning large prints of wildlife in the more natural color scheme of your room. A friend of mine had one of the Brenders fox prints and it was matted in a luscious redish-brown mat and in a beautiful frame and it was a real head turner. Charles Frace is another name you might want to seek.

Pretty room. I find it quiet and crisp just the way it is. I think the print you posted and all the other pictures would alter that feeling in one fell swoop. A black and white photo would be a classic, quiet addition.

Have you considered a headboard? When I was working on my guest room, posters here suggested a headboard and I'm so glad they did. It brought the room up a notch in terms of style and sophistication and of course, it serves an important function.

We lost just about everything in Katrina, so starting over I've had to use some imagination and creativity. We just moved into our new home in November. One of the few things I was able to find in our debris was a metal piece that I had originally bought from Ballard Designs. It was in good shape, other than scratched up a bit, so I touched it up with some Rub and Buff and hung it in my guest bedroom over the headboard. Metal or iron pieces can add warmth without taking away from your present artwork, which is so pretty already.

Since there is a footboard... I think that there already IS a headboard (but it can't be seen).

I like what you've done, it's lovely. Except for the doggy on the bed, it reminds me of a *very* nice hotel room, perfect for a guest room.

I think that print is very pretty - lively and I love the colors. I just don't picture it over that bed. I think you need a print that goes horizontally so it is sync with the width of the bed.

The room is very restful and calm and that print is jazzy and lively.

I like some of the prints Oceanna posted. What are you trying to achieve - a splash of color or a more subdued but colorful option? Of the ones Oceanna posted I like 3,4 6, 7.

Wow, I logged back in to all of these suggestion. Thanks everyone I really appreciate any feedback I can get. I am really torn now about whether or not to use color for the artwork. There are a lot of really good suggestions here. Here are a couple of pieces that I just found. Let me know what you think.
I do have a headboard it is just covered by the 5,000 pillows that I have on there. I wanted to give guests a choice of pillow options because, I think, there is nothing worse than sleeping on an uncomfortable pillow.
I think that one of those really tall upholstered headboards would be pretty but out of the budget for right now.

I vote for the sepia-colored drawing or portrait of the head -- because I adore that artwork and have it here at my home too! :)

I like the workers in the field - some color, but in a more soothing way. I would use a black wood frame to match your other photo frame.

I also like the metal square wrought iron thingys!

Oh, now you're talkin'! Love your selections. I prefer the two floral ones. I can imagine the first one with a wide white/cream mat and dark frame--it would look dramatic and soft. But the Meyers floral is great too--also dramatic yet so delicate. Of course, you can't go wrong with a Da Vinci!

(Yes, a high fabric headboard was what I was envisioning. But your room will be beautiful nonetheless.)

I like the three women with the vases: it's almost like they are angels, watching over those sleeping. My other choice would be the horses: gorgeous creatures.

Duffy, I'd use something longer than it is tall to go over a bed. Or if you want a taller one you'll need some candle sconces or little shelves or something on the sides to balance off the weight/shape with the bulk of the bed.
