Thank you, Sherry, for asking this question. I had, of course, seen the green lines, but I had assumed it was some new and special kind of link, and I have just bypassed it, not being in the mood for links (at least, until I get DSL). Now that I know it is advertising, I do find it objectionable, for this reason: It is inserted into a post written by someone who has NOT requested, or even been asked, to have advertising incorporated into his/her post. At least, that is how it seems to work, since nobody seemed to really know about it. This is not right. It is also deceptive. Of course, advertising is deceptive by nature, and I should know, having worked in that world for most of my working life - nonetheless, I feel this oversteps the mark. I know that GardenWeb needs advertisers to provide the funding for this forum that we all love, but I feel that we are already putting up with a certain amount of it, e.g., the annoying window-shade ad at the top of the page. I'll put up with that, but I would not like having the green lines inserted in a post that I have written. Laura

Wooops! Spoke too soon. ALL browsers are actually susceptible. Color me embarassed. But the page in BabyBlue's link didn't show such an option when I went to it. Now, to really disable this "feature" go to the below web page and you will see a link at the bottom: How to disable Click here to disable IntelliTXT. Click that link and it's off.
