Asko DW. Who loves them, who hates them?
Comments (12)Bought my first one about 5 years ago for my previous house. No problems over the 3 years or so that I lived there. It got a little noisier over time. It started spittin' out little rectangular plastic parts that seemed to have broken off from somewhere every once in a while. Never could figure out where it came from and didn't seem to interfere with the function. The place I bought it from had no idea. Moved to a new house, bought another Asko. Been 2 years and no problem. Again, I think it's a little louder than it used to be but nothing to complain about. I do use the longer cycles and the extra heat to get it to dry better. It holds tons. When I was looking 2 years ago, I was thinking about getting a Miele. One store had a Miele and an Asko next to each other. The wheels on the Asko slid easier and seemed sturdier. The racks also felt more substantial. The Asko just had a better feel to it so that's why I went with that. To be fair, it was an upper end Asko compared to a lower end (but still more expensive) Miele. Haven't regretted it....See MoreSectionals. Love them? Hate them? Why?
Comments (35)This is like some language I don't know igloochic. :) My brother has a natuzzi and he isnt that happy with it for some reason. I think rosesstink just suggested I give my DH a time out. :) that made my morning. I have to say, I used to get upset. The spills on the floor, the rips on things, I can not believe I am typing this because it makes it real, but the fact that when I asked DH to hang the pictures in my DR recently he accidently hit my mothers crystal ball with the HAMMER! and I still do get upset fleetingly, but I realized I could either learn to live with it, or get divorced. He happens to be wonderful in many other ways, and takes such good care of our son, that I decided to learn to live with it. :) He just doesn't get it. Well, he does to a point. I didnt' find out about the entire container of V-8 juice that was spilled on my rug until a couple days after he did such a good job cleaning it up. I think it took him hours. I couldn't remember your screen name srg215, but I have become obsessed with that sectional and it is your fault! I am going to move the sofas we have to you can't walk through the opening mimicking a sectional and see how we do for a few days....See MoreLove them or hate them? Bentwood rockers
Comments (22)Leafy, I would encourage you to get a bentwood rocker since that's what your heart is telling you. I'm all for embracing midlife crises! Life is too short to deny such small pleasures. From my own experience family members and even BFF are not always the best ones to make our decisions for us. Several times DH and I did what family advised and later realized it would have been better to have done what we wanted rather than what they thought was good for us. They think they are protecting us from bad or trivial decisions but not all trivial decisions are bad. With such an inexpensive purchase as a bentwood rocker you cannot lose because if you find later that you don't love it you can sell it. Decorating can be trial and error and we mustn't be afraid of making inexpensive mistakes. I've always liked bentwood rockers and even the dining chairs but never had any. I couldn't justify the cost back when we were 'poor' (relatively speaking) and later didn't want one as much. Later, in the late 70's (I may have been having an almost-midlife-crisis then ;D) I did buy a hanging rattan 'hippy' chair and still have that. I bought it in Europe when we lived there. There is quite a cottage industry in wicker wear in the Black Forest and it's larger and of better construction than the cheap ones that are made in Asia. I even put it in my LR when I began to decorate in a more BoHo style and the Grands love sitting and rocking in it. I like the contrast between it and my more traditional pieces and have never regretted buying it altho I know some people look askance at it. Thanks for the link olychick. I love the painted bentwood rockers....See MoreBowl Pendants - Love them or hate them?
Comments (17)Thanks for the feedback everyone. roseabbey: You know until I was pulling the photos together for the post I hadn't viewed them as the 2 distinct groupings. It was all just floating around in my head. Doing that really does show up just how over-the-top the chandelier is. The bowl continues to grow on me. dkitchenreno & faleash: Good to hear from 2 that are using the bowls as your choice. I think in all the photos I viewed there were probably less than a handful that did go that route. I'll call you trail blazers! :) mikeandbarb: I thought of the cleaning issue but not of the breakage issue. I'll check in to whether it is a standard size bowl for the feasibility of replacement if that should ever happen. So, thank you one and all. You have helped me tremendously to get off the fence and get it done so I can cross another item off the list....See Moreandreak100
