27/m. problem with intimacy, kissing, etc

I'm 27, male and been in my relationship for almost 5 years. After about 1-2 years into my relationship, I started having intimacy problems. I don't want to kiss her, hug her, or really even have sex with her. I find her attractive and really like her, but there is obviously a problem. This same thing happened with my last GF, I don't really understand what my problem is. I'm trying to end the relationship, but obviously it's hard.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or even if others have husbands that act this way and want to ask my my thoughts. I do want to kiss and have sex, only with other women.

Well maybe you just don't love these women.

You are attracted to them, they are attractive people but you don't have the love that keeps you interested.

I'm not a doctor and dont know your past,so it's hard for me to really say,but it just sounds as though you have lost interest.
Every relationship tends to "cool" off after a year or so.The begining is always wonderful with lots of sex and chemistry is high.Then we get comfortable and things settle down.We have to have other things to keep us interested besides just sex or we grow apart.
Maybe the relationship isnt stimulating enough for you mentally. So you lose interest.
Not sure if I'd call that an intimacy problem?

Since this is a marriage forum,ask any one of us who have been married for a long time,and we will tell you that it takes CONSTANT work to stay interested.Marriage is a job,and if neglected,like any job,it falls apart.
But because we are married and many of us have kids,we have many reasons to keep it together.

I'm wondering if you still expect things to be as they were when you first met your girlfriend? For that "new" feeling to stay.Because that feeling will always fade.If you expect it to always feel like that,then no relationship will last for you that long.
You have to do things to make it "like new" again.

Maybe you are just still not ready to settle down yet though? 27 is not that old,maybe you have wild oats to sow?
Everyone matures at a different rate.
If you really suspect you have a intimacy problem,then getting counseling would be your best bet before getting involved with anyone else.

If you have heavily iced all the roots and the lowest foot or two of trunk it will also be cooling further up the tree by quite a bit due to the heat transfer effects. If you want to measure heat transfer get one of those IR heat gauge guns, it is an eye-opening experience to see how heat is graded on surfaces. Fire up your toaster and watch the surfaces around it warm up. etc. Since the interior of the tree is partly liquid (sap) there will be a relatively high rate of heat transfer down the trunk compared to the heat transfer with the air on the outside. So my guess is on a cloudy day or at night the upper limbs will be feeling a lot of that cool. On a sunny day the sun will dominate the heat transfer through the trunk. Scientists have done lots of studies of this but they may not have put a strong enough heat sink at the base of the tree since their focus was cooling the roots not cooling the tree via heat transfer. We have a bunch of those big buckets that joint compound comes in (you can also buy pretty colored ones at HD). I realized that most of the plate flowers will fit in them, diameter-wise, so I'm hoping I can get 6 or 7 in each separated by bubble wrap. I might have to buy bags. I contacted a friend who used to have a scrapbook store to see if she still had any of the ones for 12x12 paper which would have been perfect. She doesn't but I scrounged up 10 from my scrapbooking supplies. Dh says to use grocery bags but I don't want to. I plan to wrap them in newspaper put a piece of tape to hold the paper and put them in a bag with the caution to remember that they are breakable. I'm also going to bring a few flat rate boxes from the post office in case someone wants to mail them. I wish I'd thought of the scrapbooking bags in time to buy some. I'm going to have to go with what ever I can get locally which probably isn't much. If they do well and I think I'll try again in the spring, I'll order some way in advance. Since they are clear, I could put a flyer in to show through and get some extra advertising. Kathy

Hello Restless, I can't give you any direct advice, because I am so new at this whole relationship thing (my husband is my very first relationship in ALL ways). He's older than me by almost 14 years, so I'm a little bit in the "older spouse" category. But anyway, someone on this board recommended to me the Five Languages of Love and it really was SO helpful. It was actually the closest my husband would get to any kind of counseling or help with our issues. It led to both of us gradually changing some things in the relationship for the better. If you look at my first thread "is this a healthy/unhealthy marriage (or something like that), the direct link is in there somewhere. Ir might even be my second thread after that one, but it contains a lot of helpful links, and the Five Love Languages was the best for us. You probably could even google it as well to find it. I hope it helps! P.S. my little attempt at some advice: do you initiate the type of affection with your husband that you desire? Maybe that could clue you in as to if he is receptive to putting more affection into your marriage? My husband responds to gestures of affection from me more than anything else. I have a 10 year old boy and I have hear some of the same things you are talking about. I don't remember even being interested in boys at 10, but since I turned 40 this year, I realize that was back in the dark ages and everything is different now : ) LOL. I was shocked when my son started coming home and talking about so and so are going together and so and so broke up. I tried to joke about it and say "so where are they going together, where are they going?" Yes, I know, that is very uncool. LOL I just try and listen to him when he is talking with his friends in the car or when I ask him what is new at school and his friends. He recently "broke up" with his girlfriend. I asked him what happened and he said that she was too possessive and he wanted to be with his friends. I had to bite my lip from laughing and I just told him that he was right. He has lots of time for girlfriends and now was the time to have fun with his friends. The little girlfriend called our house at least 6 times from the time school was out until we got home at 6:00, leaving a message only once and then continuing to call and handing up when the voice mail picked up. I told my son that it was OK that she call, but that he should tell her that once was enough and not to call until after 7:00 when we were home and finished with dinner. She didn't listen very well and I was glad when she stopped calling. I was almost ready to call her parents. I think you are right in talking with her about what is going on and encourage her to stand up for what she wants and doesn't want even though other kids may be doing it. This is such a hard lesson for kids, but I think it builds strong character which will be so important later on. Kids are growing up so fast these days. We can do everything in our power to slow that down, but I am not sure it is doing much good. I hate to see where this is all leading to. Good luck

Just throwing out there something I am dealing with in my marriage.... Do you have children with your significant other? My husband and I had what I would have considered a "normal" level of intimacy before we had kids. After I became a mother, he found me attractive, but was uninterested in sex with me. According to him, he has a normal libido, but towards other women, not me. He was eventually "diagnosed" with Madonna/Whore Complex. Once the significant other becomes a mother, the man is no longer interested in sex with her, even if the love is still there. He thinks of sex with his wife or girlfriend who is now a mother as dirty, inappropriate, etc.... As far as I've read so far, I've yet to hear that this can be "fixed." Devastating to a relationship.... I wish you luck in figuring out your situation, and hope this isn't the case for you, but thought I'd throw it out there as something to consider....
