Like a lot of other people, I've been looking for the best washer. The Samsung looks pretty good. It seems like, under some circumstances its Silvercare could be a real benefit and seems to be unique to the Samsung line. Add in their vibration reduction and recessed drain holes (to reduce wear on clothes) and it seems like a real winner. OTOH, the new Electrolux has a larger capacity, faster spin, also claims vibration reduction (though not silvercare nor receessed drain holes) and, hopefully, tries to improve upon what's out there now. The 4.7 Electrolux is cheaper than the 4.5 Samsung. There is a 4.0 Samusung that's a bit less than the Electrolux. It does seem like the manufacturers keep learning, and that the newer machines address the weak points of the older designs. Any general thoughts on Samsung vs. Electrolux? We washed T-shirts 10 times using the SilverCare setting, drying the shirts between each wash. Next, we cut the shirts in half and sewed them together with halves of shirts cleaned in a conventional washer. Volunteers wore those shirts while exercising, then tore them in half and stowed each section in separate zip-top bags. We let the shirts "ferment" over a weekend. What we found. The Samsung performed very well overall, and T-shirt halves washed on its SilverCare setting were less malodorous than those washed normally, so clothes should smell fresher longer. But SilverCare adds 6 to 24 minutes per load, and you must replace the silver bars after 10 years or 3,000 washes (about $50 to $75 per pair). WeÂre also concerned about potential health and environmental impacts of silver on clothes and wastewater. CRÂs take. This Samsung is fairly pricey. You can get a washer with comparable ability to remove dirt and stains, such as the Kenmore HE2, for less. Consumer Reports allows anyone to read some portions of their website. However, to get their ratings on various appliances, you need to be an on-line subscriber. I find the small price well worthwhile, even though I also pay for the monthly magazines because I want to understand the products I purchase, esp'ly something that will be in my home many years. The full articles tell you about things like cost, convenience, features, customer service and repair issues. If you do not wish to subscribe, stop at your local library and someone at the reference counter can help you locate the issues which reviewed the appliances you wish to learn more about. Montevina (2006) $10 Loaded with tropical fruit and citrus, but also with a firm structure. Food pairing: Deep-fried calamari and chipotle aioli, shellfish, grilled shrimp, crudités with mild dip, spinach salad with raspberry dressing, poached fish with creamy lemon sauce, fruit salad. Talus Collection (2006) $8 Light, clean fruit flavors are offset by bright acid balance. Food pairing: Vegetable quiche, New England clam chowder, raw bar/oysters, chicken satay, grilled squid with sweet glaze, seafood pasta, Coquille St. Jacques, green salad with fruit.
