Sweet relish recipe anyone have one T&T

Hi All

Sorry to have been MIA and it's going to continue while we fix up our house :(

I'm hoping though, that someone can help me with a T&T Sweet Relish Recipe. I have 30 pounds of pickling cukes and would love to make a few jars of relish along with my usual pickles.

I can give you mine, which is really Grandma's. I've won a couple of ribbons with it and my family loves it. It's sweet, not dill and I run the veggies though the food processor on the shredding disk instead of grinding.

CUCUMBER RELISH (GRANDMAÃ¯Â¿Â½S RECIPE)

4 cups ground cucumbers
4 large onions, ground up
4 green peppers, ground up
1 or 2 red peppers, ground up
1 tbls. Salt
4 tsp celery seed
2 tsp. Turmeric
Ã¯Â¿Â½ tsp. Pepper
4 cups vinegar
4 cups sugar

Combine veggies and salt and let stand for 2 hours. Drain well, add rest of ingredients and cook slowly for 1 hour. Pack hot into hot jars and process in boiling water bath 15 minutes for pints.

Makes 6 Ã¯Â¿Â½ 8 pints

Cucumber Relish

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

2 quarts chopped cucumbers
2 cups chopped sweer green peppers
2 cups chopped sweer red peppers
1 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup salt
2 quarts cold water
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 sticks cinnamon
1 tablespoon mustard seed
1 tablespoon turmeric
2 teaspoons whole allspice
2 teaspoons whole cloves
1 quart vinegar

Combine cucumbers, peppers and onion; sprinkle with turmeric.

Dissolve salt in 2 qt. water. Pour over chopped vegetables; let stand 3-4 hours. Drain. Cover with cold water and let stand one hour. Drain thoroughly.

Tie spices in a cheesecloth bag; add to sugar and vinegar. Bring to a boil and pour over vegetables. Cover and let stand 12-18 hours in a cool place.

Bring to boil; simmer until hot. Pack into clean, hot jars. leaving 1/2" headspace. Adjust lids. Process in a boiling water bath: 10 min. at 0-1000. ft., 15 min. at 1001-6000 ft., and 20 min. above 6000 ft.

Katie's notes: I add less turmeric, 1/2-1 tsp. Have also used mixed pickling spice in place of the cinnamon, allspice, mustard and cloves.

I am not sure what you mean by a recipe for cherry vinegarette dressing using cherry vinegarette. So you are looking for a recipe to make a Cherry Vinaigrette salad dressing? I googled and found several. Here are a couple: Cherry Vinaigrette Ingredients - 1/2 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil 2 Shallots, finely chopped 1/3 cup Sherry 1/4 cup unsweetened Dried Cherries, pitted Salt and Fresh Ground Black Pepper, to taste Preparation: Heat olive oil in skillet over medium heat. Add shallots and sautÃÂ© until softened. 2. Add sherry and boil for approximately 1 minute. 3. Add dried cherries, salt and pepper, heat through one minute longer. 4. like 9x13 pan or larger than that? This is one I grew up with..I actually doubled the cream cheese layer. It's actually 8oz/1c... Google for pictures and lots of other recipes. It's pretty much a "by preference" type dessert. Lemon Lush Crust: ÃÂ¾ c butter, softened 1 ÃÂ½ c flour ÃÂ¾ c grated pecans Mix ingredients and press into 9x13 pan. Bake 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees; cool. (I cool on wire rack for about 15 minutes and then put in refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes.) 1st Layer: 16oz cream cheese, very soft 2 c powdered sugar Juice of half a lemon Beat cream cheese smooth; mix in powdered sugar and lemon juice. Fold in whipped topping. Spread gently over crust. 2nd Layer: 4 ÃÂ½ c milk 3 packages instant lemon pudding Juice of half a lemon Mix milk with pudding. Add lemon juice. Whip until thick and let set. Spread over cream cheese layer. Top with 2 c whipped topping (cool whip or whipped cream). Note: Other flavors of pudding maybe used. Use a t-T of flavoring or Liqueur to compliment pudding, in place of lemon juice. ÃÂ© 2001-2002 My Island Kitchen And this one I make and take a lot..also makes a great lunch box goodie. We are probably talking cake cake, although the recipes I found called it pound cake. But it certainly isn't the traditional pound cake with the equal portions. I've found a bundt cake. The only problem is I don't have lemons to zest. I used to always skip over lemon zest in recipes until my secretary gave me one of the rasp-like zesters! Changed my life. However, I have lemon juice that I froze when I bought a bunch of lemons for decoration. Maybe I'll give it a go and just add a skosh more lemon juice to make up for the lack of zest. Here's the recipe from Amy's Healthy Baking blog. Never tried any of her recipes before. Lemon Bundt Cake with Almond drizzle for the cake 1/2 c granulated sugar 1/2 c water 1 tsp lemon zest (about 1 tiny lemon) 1 c all-purpose flour 1 tbsp baking powder 1/8 tsp salt 1 c low-fat ricotta 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 egg (or 2 egg whites) for the drizzle 1/2 c powdered sugar 1/4 tsp almond extract 1/2 tsp lemon juice 1/2 to 1 tsp water To prepare the cake, combine the sugar, water, and lemon zest in a small pot on the stove. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently, and boil for 1-2 minutes. Let the sugar syrup cool for 10-15 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°, and coat a 6-cup bundt pan with nonstick baking spray with flour. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a medium bowl, stir together the sugar syrup, ricotta, and vanilla until smooth. Add in the egg, mixing well. Add in the flour mixture, stirring just until incorporated. What is the ingredient list on the purchased box? (or is it a box). I'm not familiar with Marie. One odd thing i noticed is 5 dollops of whipped topping on the pie. Is that not hard to cut evenly? We don't have pie much and an inch slice is about our limit and only holiday time anywho...(can't cut across that first cut) It is standard practise with larger companies to use the actual product advertised and on the box photo...and in tv commercials. It is the law and any cheats would be so easily leaked by those working on the project. Styled food 'photos' do cheat sometimes in later touch-up but the original set-up is the actual food product. Hours with tweezers. I worked on so many years ago to fill in down time and then again during the writers strike for a short time. I'd rather stick pins in my eyes it is so boring. Smaller companies and most import products are not regulated at all. Why what you see on some package/can/jars is nothing like inside and why it is often impossible to re-create something after looking at the ingredient list with all the preservatives tweaks in a laboratory. One commercial for a checkerboard ice-cream that served up perfect slices had a half dozen chest freezers brought in with the actual boxes from the factory that one would buy in your local grocery. They sliced and sliced for three days to get the perfect one over and over. On a PizzaHut commercial they tractor trailered in the ovens used in their 'establishments', (fast food joints) lol. And large boxes of chilled bags of goop sauce with a dozen in-house cooks to prepare it just the way it is done by the food staff on site in your neighborhood. I think it was for their pasta offerings, not pizza. Besides all that, trying to re-create a good flavor combination at home with fresh ingredients is noble and i think important. Less processed and maybe not so pretty but much healthier. (really who cares with dessert) Actually with trial and error a pretty slice can happen...not likely in my house as some are often perfect and others are goopy but still taste good. A warm knife run under the sink then whipped dry helps with slicing cold pie. The entire history of food advertising and when the ball dropped is interesting. like GainsBurgers for dogs. Basically play-dough with zero food value and considered a real treat!

Annie: My cousin asked for a sweet pickle relish recipe and I didn't have one and found yours, but the printing is compromised. So, how much black pepper is the correct amount? Thanks.

this is a great t&t recipe. fix a big batch and give it as gifts. they'll either love it or pop it in the pantry ...

Kate, I am sure you can successfully reduce that recipe and put it in smaller jars. I'm sorry I didn't answer more quickly but I'm at Ashley and trying to use the kindle. Plus I'm on nursing/babysitting duty until they are all sleeping. Thanks for the vote of confidence, bragu, it's a family family favorite for us too.
