Let me introduce myself... hey hey hey

Hi, new here. I have been lurking and cutting and pasting like mad! I wanted to say thank you for the great recipes and ideas you share here! I made the refrigerator garlic dill pickles last week with cukes I got at a farmers market and OMG were they good. They didn't last a week! I will have to keep these in the frig at all times or watch DH cry. I also enjoyed searching for recipes for making sauce from the tons of tomatoes I also got at the farmers market.

I came by way of the kitchen forum and the cottage garden forum and no, still not finished yet with the DIY kitchen. Too nice outside.

Sue, I welcomed you on the fried chicken thread, but welcome again, to the Cooking Forum.

I'm sorry to hear about your Mom, though, and I'm sure Saturday will be difficult. Cook something great, just for her, will you?

Shareclub usually meets in the boardroom of a daycare behind a Lutheran church, while the caretaker cleans. When we arrived tonight - door locked. Called the caretaker - he's sick. So we arranged for a room in a nearby library, at a fee of $26.50 for a non-profit group. Usually about 20 there, only about 14 tonight (probably some were missed by the notifying person at the door of the daycare). We've been meeting for years - usually have met where room is free. This is the first time that we've had to pay, that I'm aware of and I've been attending for about 7 years, I think. On return home, female canine (changing her title to "feckless canine") had torn the bottom out of a grocery bag hanging on the kitchen chair, chocolate bar wrapper strewn all over floor, she'd eaten some of it. When she was here some time ago, pulled a bag of choc. covered almonds off of a kitchen chair, ate quite a few, threw up after a while. Regurgitated almonds, even though (still) choc. covered, are not an appealing dish. She doesn't like being left alone - the other day, she'd pulled the garbage bag all apart, strewing junk all over the kitchen floor. After my return, I made the mistake of giving a tart a minute of microwave - to smoke when I opened the door, and some raisins rather charred. Glad it wasn't yesterday - or I'd have thought it an inauspicious start to my new year. ole joyful

Attitude is everything. A lot of stuff just doesn't matter. I keep reminding myself of this in light of this recession we're in, b/c if I let myself I'd sit down and cry over the $$$ we've lost in the stock market, but I have 3 children and they have spouses (that makes 6) and they have children (10) and they're all healthy and productive and I can't ask for more than that. We know people really dealing w/ bad health and serious problems w/ their children and people who don't have grands, and I wonder why I'm so blessed. The important things in life aren't things. So, I try to forget the $$$$$ and thank God for the good life I have.

That's great, slow! Very cool. Curb.....I know what you're saying - loving this forum cause it helps to know you're not the ONLY one that gets so carried away with these things that we love so much! I, too, love tools. My workshop would make a lot of MEN envious. And SLOW...., I always thought I got carried away with too many things that I wanted to do.....until getting to know you here on the forum - you far surpass ME!! HA! It's great! Like so many people here say....so much we want to do, and not enough time to do it ALL.

sandiefl, yes, yes. I thought it was running up and down the stairs changing beds. But it has left me tired. oh my god, I'm so glad you posted this. I'll be sweating, then not even 3 minutes later, I'm cold. So I have blankets beside me and I'm constantly putting them over me then kickng them off. Did you have radiation? I thought it was the left over affects of the radiation. I'm going to my oncologist and breast surgeon on Aug 2 and 3. They are the best of the best. They are in NYC. I don't mean to say that every doctor in NYC is the best, but, really, these guys are the best. honestly. When I go in August, I will get it out of him. They seem not to want to tell you the symptoms. Did YOU feel that way? For me to tell my hubby "I feel tired", I FEEL TIRED. Remind me to tell you what he says. I'll kick his ass if he doesn't. lol.

Anyone who ends the title of their post with hey, hey, hey is going to make a fine addition here! Welcome and jump right in the water is warm or is that tepid, or a low boil maybe a simmer.....whatever it won't hurt!

I love reading about food, what can I say. Almost as much as eating it. I can't wait to try more of the recipes here. It is so much more fun to cook in my almost complete new kitchen.
