Help with Aga Oven
Comments (4)I usually use the lowest runner possible. I notice that I also have to rotate the pan half way thru the baking as the portion closest to the back of the oven browns much faster than the front. I am wondering if people who have Agas put in an additional electric oven just for baking. Do you ever bake in the roasting oven and just lessen your time?...See MoreHelp! messed up inner hob lid on my Aga
Comments (3)As I read your post, the western Connecticut Aga man is here doing a regular maintenance visit for our 14-year-old Aga (first time in five years! oops). So I asked him what he thought about your post. He thinks there's a problem with the adjustment of your Aga top plate: a half inch gap with visible insulation doesn't seem right. But if you could post a picture, I could tell whether it is very different from mine. As far as cleaning the boiling plate lid: I don't, as a rule. The heat rising from the boiling plate when the lid is closed gradually vaporizes any significant spatters on the inside of the lid. The spatters from the simmering plate are more likely to cling there, and sometimes I'll point the teakettle spout at the inside of the lid to loosen baked on stuff when it bugs me, or apply Cinch or Windex and wipe it off, The Aga man who is here right now uses Easy Off on the inside of the lid, waits 15 minutes, then scrubs it off with 4-0 steel wool (on the INSIDE of the lid, never on the mirror finish of the outside of the lid) -- after using Easy Off he wipes down the surface of the Aga with warm soapy water to remove any caustic material from the enamel. Cinch is great as a daily cleaner, along with a hot very damp dishcloth. Bon Ami, or Astonish are good, too, for baked on stuff. Just not on the mirror finish lid tops! The Aga website usually has a wealth of information from the company and from Aga owners. Lynn...See MoreHELP - triple track storm windows over Jeld-Wen???
Comments (9)@windowswashington - thanks for pointing out that keeping them open will decrease the risk. While obvious, I'd not thought of that. THANK YOU! @toddinmn - cannot "take the money." Need to either get them installed now or lose the opportunity for the insurance company to pay for their replacement. They will only pay - if they see them actually installed. The Jeld-Wen are double hung, so I can flip them inward to clean....See MoreHelp! Treatment for Arched window over the front door
Comments (2)You can get drapes made up for that window, but 98% of the time this windows are left open. The whole idea of this type of a window is to display the chandelier and the staircase... Unless of course, someone likes to run around naked in that case you would cover that up because I doubt someone would be parked in front of the house and wait for someone to cross the hallway. In my development, everyone has this windows and none of them are covered....See Morequiltgirl
