If you're experiencing hot flashes try using some Hot Flash Emergency Relief or HER. I've found it searching the internet for solutions to my hot flashes. Now I can not live without it. Here's the website

Hi there, I get terrible hot flushes - every 1.5 hours 24/7 - no let up, drives me mad...... I live in Thailand where it is hot, hot and more hot and with me wearing very little - cos of the heat I am not throwing clothes off, like I am when I'm in the UK.

But, I have now found a little help in the form of 'Refresh Towels' these are the guest sized hand towels, made of normal toweling fabric that come in individual sealed packs of 10 or so, they are quite cheap out here. They are 'damp' and have a lovely smell to them.

I keep a couple in the freezer and then when I get that overwhelming sense of not being able to breath and feeling panicky as the next hot rushes over my face, neck and the insides of my elbows I grab a frozen refresh towel out of the freezer, tear it out of the wrapper and .................. phew ... relief ... as I gently wipe it round my scarlet coloured face,, neck and other hot spots.... this really does help me and is saving us a fortune as I used to grab the air con remote and press the on switch waiting for the cool air to rush over me.....

Within a couple of minutes the flush has subsided and I can carry on with my life...........

I then pop the towel back in it's wrapper and put back in the freezer for my next hot in about 1.5 hours time.

Obviously with these being made of normal toweling they can be popped through a hot wash in the machine, then soaked in some nice cologne, lavender water or whatever to make them smell nice and sweet,,,, as they will be near/on your face and then reused over and over again.

I have symptoms (same as my mother) of early onset Menopause. At 35 years old I've already suffered the hot flashes and night sweats and irregular menstruation. I've had the symptoms come and go since I was about 30-31 years old. A handful of years ago I suffered a false pregnancy and a Native American woman I knew told me about a combination of Soy Isoflavones and Black Cohosh (capsules) to help regulate my hormone levels. The combination brought my hormone levels back into balance within a matter of days, relieved and eliminated ALL of my pregnancy symptoms. When I started having the menopause symptoms more frequently I tried them again on the theory that if they can regulate hormones from "pregnancy" back to normal then perhaps they would help with menopausal symptoms too. I have since discovered that adding St. John's Wart to the mix also helps with the irritability that goes with it all. I've taken these together for 3 years now. I noticed a change within a matter of 2-4 days when not taken consistently. When taken consistently I have noticed that they tend to reduce the frequency and intensity of hot flashes and night sweats (if not eliminate altogether for extended periods of time). They also tend to regulate the timing and duration of menstruation to a more consistent schedule as well as reduce cramping, fatigue, mood swings and irritability. I'm sure like with all herbal remedies there may be mixed results for everyone. But I hope the information helps and if you do decide to try it.. I hope it works wonders for you like it did for me. Hot Flashes, HOT FLASHES...............what's a girl to do? I'll tell you what to do. You look for alternatives that will help to lessen the symptoms that come out of nowhere to make your life miserable and crazy! I suffered with them for quite awhile and then I decided to try a few things to help alleviate the hot flashes and the night sweats or make them more bearable. Someone had suggested using a satin pillowcase, because they are smooth and the fabric is nice and cool. Trust me, it works, Especially when you flip the pillow over. The second thing I do and what I have to found to work best for me is an eye pillow, right out of the freezer. I keep it there so its ready at a moments notice. I use a peppermint scented one because it opens up my sinuses and that helps me to breathe a lot better and helps any sinus or tension related headaches. The cold flax seed inside the eye pillow surrounds my eyes, temples, forehead and cheeks. You will be amazed at just how much relief and comfort you will get. The weight of the flax seed applies just enough acupressure to soothe and relax your facial muscles so your not so tense and uncomfortable . The eye pillow also blocks out all light so you can truly relax and get some needed rest. I searched online and found several sites that had them. The one I decided to go with was A Touch Of Satin. I liked them because their ingredients were organic, and that was important to me. They had an unbelievably large selection of patterns and I like the feel of satin on my skin. They also had a page on their site that talked about the benefits of their aromatherapy scents. They had lavender as well and that is suppose to be very calming and they also had them unscented. Hi golddust have you tried placing a fan next to your bed hun that helps me some also i have got a summer quilt an put pure cotton on it im not saying it stops the sweats but it helps i do get a bit more sleep than iwas doing why do you refuse to give up your lattes is caffene causing you some problems i drink de caff now because of palpatations but ive managed to find a remedy for that now i take magnesium n calcium tablets every morning and that stopped them i can even have a few glasses of wine now i go to bed early get up early i only work part time now but doing a bit of something helps to take my mind of my physical problems and i get tired out as well so i sleep through the flushes a little easier i take cammomile tea right before bed as well i think that helps

The following was posted by Lazypup on a similar question: Both the ASTM (American Society of Testing & Materials) standards and the plumbing codes require that the sensing probe must be in the upper 6" of the water heater pressure vessel. Typically they are side mounted on gas water heaters while they are commonly top mounted on electric water heaters. Either position is fine providing the T&P valve sensing probe is extending into the upper 6" of the internal pressure vessel. Years ago water heaters did not have Temperature & Pressure Relief Valves. Instead they had "Pressure Blowout Plugs" which look like the freeze plugs in an automobile engine block. When T&P valves first became available water heaters only had two threaded ports, hot & Cold, so they would install a close nipple and Tee on the Hot water discharge line and place the T&P on the top of the TEE with a long probe that extended through the TEE and nipple and into the upper part of the tank. If your old water heater has a third threaded tap on the pressure vessl where the probe is extended directly into the water in the tank you may use a standard T&P valve. If the T&P is on top of a tee you must use an extended probe type valve. If you need an extended reach type look for a Watts 100XL. The XL on the model number identifies it as an extended length probe.

Hello, I am new to the forum and would like to introduce myself. My name is Anita Paulson and live in Arkansas. I am 54 years old and have been going through the "change " for about 6 years now. My family doctor put me on Premarin ans I have been on it for about 3 years. I have always felt that premarin was bad for my health. I was searching online for a better solution to my problem and I ran across information on pellet hormones. I found a doctor in my area that does pellet insertion and had my first on Jan. 16th, 2008. if anyone would like any feedback on the pellets I will be more than happy to share my experience.

I have been menopausal for 3 years. My gyno gave me Femhrt last year for hot flashes and night sweats. It didn't work. Last April, he gave me Estradiol to take in the am and Prometrium to take at night. I started to spot, so quit the Prometrium and was wonderful on the Estrdiol, not realizing that the 2 had to go together.
He had not stressed this to me. I went 6 months feeling great, then started bleeding terribly for about 1 week. Went in to Gyn and he was happy to hear that the reason for the bleeding was not taking the prometrium, b/c he was worried about endometrial cancer. Told me to get off of everything and the bleeding should stop, which it did. He then gave me Fosteum (which is for Osteoporosis, but helps women with hot flashes). Told me if it didn't work to go back to Femhrt (which never worked). After 1 month, I decided on my own to back to Estradiol and the prometrium, since I did wonderfully on the Estradiol. But decided, I would balance it as I should have previously, with the prometrium. Worked great for 1 month, then I started the heavy bleeding again. I got off of everything. I am using the progesterone cream, which is not helping. I am wondering if I am Estrogen dominant and maybe need just the prometrium. Someone please help. I know everyone is different, so I will see my Gyno in 4-2009, so I thought I would experiment on my own. I know I need to balance my hormones.

I can't help you with the hormone replacement as I have cancer and it's ER and PR positive. But for my hotflashes, I was prescribed clonidine. It is actually high blood pressure medicine. It helps alot. During the day I have hardly any flashes. I also take organic flax meal. 2 tblsp, twice a day. I had slacked off on the flax and my nights were horrible. Started back two days ago, being religious with it, now at night, I still have the flashes but go right back to sleep and they are not as bad. I also tried black cohosh and vit E, they did not seem to help me much. But just because it didn't help me, doesn't mean it won't help you. They are natural products. It would be nice (for you) if you could get relief from the 3, flax, black cohosh and Vit E. I would much rather try that, if I were you, than to take hormones. Breast cancer strikes 1 in 8 women and I know several who have cancer and blame it on the hormonal therapy they were on. Not trying to scare you, but to encourage you to try natural ways first.
