What color PebbleTec should we get -- going nuts!!
Comments (24)My wife and I were in the same predicament over choosing the color for our pool also. We wanted a blue but didn't want any green shade to the water . We were happy with the "blueness" of Blue Granite but like yourself we didn't care for the rather dull or grayish look in shallow water. We ended up choosing Midnight Blue PS and couldn't be happier. we actually have Sandy Beach in our beach entry for the first 15' of the ramp down, and while we were already paying the upcharge for two diferent colors of pebble application, We had them do our entire spa in Sandy Beach PS as well as we felt the sandy beach pebble looks great in shallow water, at least better than any of the darker pebble choices. We too have the Oklahoma flagstone and I think the Midnight Blue and Oklahoma compliment each other nicely.good luck with your project....See MoreColor experts, please help--what color should we paint our house?
Comments (18)Thank you! So much great feedback. Sadly, the paint job is a necessity rather than just aesthetics -- paint on the back side is failing pretty badly & peeling off in layers. (After reading up on the paint forum, I think it was just too many layers of latex on top of old oil paint without adequate prep.) Maybe we will keep it close to current color. I'm not sure what color it is, but I'll have to stop by the BM store and pick up a tab for Briarwood. I think those color visualizers are just a bit off, at least on our monitor -- Down Pour is a very smurf-y blue on my screen. Luckily, SW store is right down the street. Of the SW colors, we liked Mineral Deposit -- gray, but not quite so dark. Johnmari, my wife said exactly that about warm trim looking bad with cool gray field color. I just want to get away from the current ultrawhite, just tone down a bit but not too much. Shutters? I think we will someday, after we've finished the essentials. Of course, being picky, I don't want to just screw aluminum shutters that don't match window size on there, so might be a while given that real shutters & hardware are pricey. The suggestion about doing the sash black is good--that could look really sharp and make the windows pop a bit more until we can dress it up a bit more with shutters. Absolutely agreed on the landscaping solutions. Could be more varied and it would add a lot. THANK YOU for all your suggestions, such a helpful group & nice little corner of the internet....See Moreneed opinions-should we get a garbage disposal? can we
Comments (5)Having grown up without one, I now can't imagine not having one. We do some composting, although not as much as I would like yet...still a work in progress for us. But, find that there will still be plenty of use for the GD. In our current kitchen, we have one with our single bowl sink (we're keeping the GD but getting rid of the single bowl sink). So, to answer your question, yes, you can absolutely have one with a single bowl sink. If you do get a single bowl, particularly a smaller one like what you mentioned, I suggest trying to find one that has the drain to the back and side. Our current sink has the drain centered, which means that more of the cabinet is taken up down below AND even more annoying is if I have a pot or pan soaking, it's hard to use the GD. You don't need to get a special sink to use a GD, but you do want to do some research about which GD will work best for your needs. Our old one was LOUD! The new one is quite quiet (all things considered)....See MoreWhat style front door should we get?
Comments (13)You’re looking for a door to fill the entire height....meaning a full height door the dimensions of your original door plus the transom?? That’s a ginormous door. What’s the measurement of the total height? Our front entrance doors are 9 foot mahogany doors (pretty tall). I think when you get that tall though even with solid wood, things start to warp a bit. The stationary door has not warped because it’s bolted at the top and bottom so it’s a tight fit. But the side we use all the time has warped some and doesn’t form a tight seal towards the very top. It’s only secured by the doorknob lock set, so no bolt on top and bottom. Just something to consider....See Morevanisleevt
