Remefemin

Good Morning Ladies

I was just wondering if anyone out there was taking Remefemin and Fosamax or Evista? I would really appreciate any experiences you may have had. Thanks Lou

Hi Lou,
When I started in this 'stage' of my life, my doc first recommended remefemin. I took it for a short while consistently but found no relief. To be fair, I then began taking it inconsistently because I think I needed more help that remefemin could provide. I just didn't see or feel a difference. I am now on very low dosage of HRT and am trying to find a natural alternative to this. I am now feeling much better and function almost normally.
I spoke to an acquaintance of mine recently. She takes Evista and thinks it is effective. She goes off it once per month for about 7 days and says she notices the difference immediately. I have not considered evista since it contains soy.
Please let us know when you find a natural alternative which is effective. In the meantime, I am reading books on the subject.

I was on a low dose of HRT, taking FemHRT every other day
but after being on HRT for 5 1/2 years my doctor and I decided that I should get off of it. I have been on Remefemin for about one week and so far so good, and except
that at times I feel a little jittery, I am doing well.
I do have to take something for my bones now because I have some bone loss and once you stop HRT; the loss of bone can escalate...so I am going to try Fosamax for a while. We both decided against Evista because of the risk of blood clots. There does not seem to be any natural form of HRT that is safe.
Even if estrogen/progesterone are from natural sources they can still cause problems with your thyroid and can also
create a risk for cancer. Maybe someday, they will find something that will be good for all of us. Take care. Lou

I'm always so happy to hear of women who don't take anything.....and don't want to jump off a bridge! I am struggling with things. I wanted so badly to get off my patch, and gave it 2 and 1/2 months........but life got so bad, I cried "Uncle" and put the patch back on. I truly believe I am an alien and don't have the usual human body. I have been way too hot my whole life.....but now that menopause is staring......I actually get cold flashes! I've always had the opposite reactions to everything. One question I have for you all.........It seems like there's not an OB/GYN alive who thinks it's okay to not take hormones (unless you have a history of breast cancer). It's really scary to do it "eau natural" when the medical community has us convinced that our body's will snap in two, and we'll drop dead of cardiac arrest if we don't take HRT. At present, my life is unliveable without HRT......but I'll sure try again some time to get off it..........maybe when my kids are moved out of the house, and I have nothing to do but scream in pain with constant headaches, and nail plywood over all my doors and windows and shake with fear and panic in some dark corner. ;) Anyhow.......I'm really happy for those of you who can do without this stuff!

Hi All! Well I guess I could say I weaned myself,with the help of my doctor.off HRTs. I tried a great variety from the onset of my menopause at 50. Tried Prempro pills first then premarin cream, vagifem suppositories, Combi Patch, and finally Femhrt,also garden variety health food store over counter progestone creams, phyto proleif order by mail. Yep you name it I tried it to fight the bad hot flashes night sweats,insomnia, heart palpitations. Just plain fatigue worn out menopausal lady. So now at 55 I think I have run the race , analyzed that each had its good and bad effects on me but in general doc agreed I must be allergic to estrogen products synthetic or otherwise.So I decided to quit altogether no more trials and errors. My flashes were pretty bad at first withdrawl wise, then lessened. I have only mild ones now, not to say they won't return with a vengeance. But my heart palps did lead me to a echocardiogram . Mitral valve prolapse as I may have mentio9ned in previous thread. Fibromyalgia plagues me from my bouts with insomnia, advil or motrim suffices for now. Do to my run down sleepless conditon and teaching and cold weather and bronchitis, well now I have pneumonia and a suspicious lung xray (non smoker) so must go to a pulmonary specialist on Tues. Ruled out blood clot from a blood test so either scar tissue or hopefully not some malignant growth. Oh well aging is certainly not boring, eventful yes. Wouldn't or couldn't have it any other way. Maca is a root used by the Inca Indians for a variety of reasons including hormone balance. If you do a search on maca supplement, you can find a lot of information on it. I don't recall everything I read except the part that it is suppose to relieve hot flashes. I just started yeterday on them so will post again in a week or so and let everyone know if it works or not. Just thought maybe someone else has tried it.

Hello All, I am currently in menopause stage. I have all the symptoms listed, I had suffer over 3 years now. Recently I feel better by using DIM for stabilized my hormone naturally and using supreme royal jelly to help my sleep. (this will knock you out within 1 hr, this is all natural and have a lot of protein but it quite expensive) along with this you have to use stress relieve supplement to help your adrenal. I have no problem with the dryness. My skin still glowing ,everyone thought I am in 40 but I am in mid 50. I only have mild hot flash sometimes if I forget to take DIM. Also keep up with vitamin supplements daily. It is hard to digest all of these supplements but it will help. i hope this will be informative for everybody that have to suffer. I

Evista does not "contain soy." It is a selective estrogen receptor modulator or SERM. It is approved to "prevent" and "treat" osteoporosis in fully menopausal women. It has been linked to ovarian tumors both benign and malignant in rodents and in at least one in vitro study. It also causes hot flashes, and vaginal dryness, and increases risk of blot clots.
