I have no idea what the "film" is--did you wipe the area with alcohol or hydrogen peroxide? As for the pimples, my dermatologist told me that's the skin's reaction to the "trauma" of waxing, and can be prevented by using a little over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream right after the waxing is done (and NOT letting the salon put on a lotion that contains fragrance, which is irritating to some of us).

coolmama- I have not noticed any side effects. I was cautious as I have been known to react to certain things. The dermo said to use 2X a day but I started out by using 1X a day for a few days and everything was fine so I have been doing it 2X for almost 2 months now. I didn't notice any drying, burning, etc. I'm not sure yet but I may use a depilitory on the rest of my face (as I have never done that before). I very carefully put a small amount in the eyebrow area and have noticed a big difference there also. I believe for the VANIQA to work, the hair has to be eliminated first because I have been putting it on my jawline and I don't see any difference. My jaw line is blond peach fuzz. What does everyone else do with theirs (if it is just peach fuzz)? Like I said, insurance doesn't cover it and it is $85 for @ a 1oz. tube. I think it will last me @ 6 months if I continue to put it on my jawline too. The instructions say to really rub it in. Otherwise, if you just put it on the upper lip..it will last forever. If you quit using it, it is my understanding, that the hair will return to the pre VANIQA.

Well, today is going much better. (Of course I am probably jinxing myself.) I went to the library and spoke to a few acquaintances who all remembered me and none of whom told me I had ratty hair or pimples. The Kindle Fire session went more smoothly, thanks to Frances I think I have figured out a thing or two or three. I think the problem is just plain old slowness. What I took for nonresponse is just plain slowness. I need to wait...wait...wait...wait a little more...voila! Being used to lightning fast responses on my work and home computers, I have become spoiled. It's not that bad, but it is definitely slow. And my two Kindles work differently - my old Kindle can receive books just about anywhere but my new Kindle Fire can only receive books if it has a wireless connection. Except for library books, which are a whole different animal. Yes, it is a learning experience. Anyway, I am tired of Christmas, not the spiritual beautiful part, but the I-don't-have-time-to-be-nice-to-you-because-I-have-better-things-to-do part. I will be glad when the holidays are over and my friends don't hang up on me because they are busy and stressed. I don't have the busy stressed part, because I pretty deliberately eliminated it quite some time ago. For instance, we don't exchange gifts in my family as a general rule. We all agreed quite some time ago that we all have too much stuff. But today is beautiful. It is snowing lightly and looks gorgeous. I'm so happy to have some snow that does not come part and parcel with a huge and ferocious storm. This is lightly falling, moderate temp, no wind, only half-an-inch expected snow. And yes, this is all tongue-in-cheek, I'm hope I have generated a bit of laughter!

Seattle, I have a large bottle of Aveeno sitting next to me, and other brands in each room. Local, I'm hoping you're right about the sulfates, I swear I bought sulfate free shampoo but it's not. I read many become intolerant over time and have scalp problems. It can't be dandruff, there's no itching, and the flakes are tiny. Not noticeable now since my hair is lighter. :) Anyone remember Prell shampoo? I loved it!! Full of sulfates. I don't know why I didn't do this before. My youngish neighbor up the road was a full time hair stylist before she had kids. Now she does it part time in her large kitchen, which is fun. I messaged her about my scalp and she recommended Kirkland's Salon Formula Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner. Costco sells it and now Amazon does too. It's the same as Pureology but under a different name for Costco and much cheaper. Feathers, thank you for the head's up!! Carol, do the two sausage links I had this morning count? lol I eat a lot of tuna and it's full of protein. I tried a keratin shampoo a few months ago before my hair went flat, and keratin made it worse. I looked up if there's any vitamin for dry skin. Yep. B7, aka Biotin. Here's the symptoms of a deficiency: Symptoms appearing with a biotin deficiency: Thinning hair Scaly skin rashes around eyes, nose, mouth Brittle nails My hair is thinning normally and I don't have scaly skin. But you should see my fingernails. Awful and I haven't worn polish in a year. DH is getting B7 for me tomorrow and I ordered tight disposable gloves for cleaning.
