Very pretty. Does a bombe chest type of thing work with a lamp on it in the middle angle or is too narrow and would it look funny facing that way instead of to the door?

What about a chair with a table to make it less obvious that there is no 'middle'?

A bench with a large potted plant?

Chair on the left closest to end newel post and table rounding the angle? Too bad I don't have photoshop, maybe someone can throw one in there to see how it might look.

Would you consider a hall tree? or there was a whimsical furniture thread. Maybe a piece that grabs attention takes attention away from the odd shape of the area?

I'm curious what you had there before. Maybe it was not as bad as you are thinking?? LOL>

I would do a large round pedestal table pulled out from the wall with a tall vase on it and maybe a couple of squat candles or stack of books.

Then you can hang some art on the wall behind.

I love all your beautiful wood! I think if you can glue your "baby" (doggie) to the floor then your decorating issues will be complete! He/she is adorable and looks perfect!

I second Budge's suggestion. Somehow, the angles of the walls would compete with anything with straight edges. To me a bombe would be confusing too. A round table would not compete. And it would approximate a classic entry hall with a round table in the center...like...uh...is it Demi's house? Someone here has that...

I also agree with the round table idea. Wish such a GORGEOUS staircase, you really don't need much else. Beautiful and classic.

That space is perfect for a foyer table with a tall arrang.
Then you have that wonderful wall to place pics.

Wow, thanks for all your suggestions. I like the round table idea. Also glad you like Xavier. We just adopted him from an animal rescue, and I'm already very attached to him. I'll be posting more pics of other areas I need help with, in addition to this area. Please continue to toss out your ideas - you have no idea how much it helps.

Dahlink, why not put a fainting couch there with a table, top is with a little pewter tray filled with grapes, wine, cheese, and a stack of books. Of course, a beautiful lamp for passive moments.

Actually, I think it might be Riverrat's house with the entry hall/round table. Anyone here remember?

Do you have any functional requirements for the area that need to be considered?
A place to toss guests' coats and/or purses?
Mail drop? Keys? Mirror?

If not, then the round table with center arrangement would be beautiful. Maybe add a small mirror on the tallest staircase wall?

If you need a 'coat drop' then a small rounded antique loveseat tucked into the stairway curve with a short bushy potted plant alongside would look great and function well.

How about a demilune table on the "wall" wall and a curvy chair to the left? As others have suggested, rounded pieces might serve as a good countpoint to all the angles.

GORGEOUS hallway!! And large enough for two features -- both can be decorative and useful!

A round table is the perfect suggestion -- place it slightly more out into the hallway. Add a gorgeous vase with seasonal flowers. Or an urn with seasonal greenery.

Perhaps a round rug under the table?

And on the wall area -- just the stairs -- a very thin chest -- perhaps painted? with a lamp and mirror! Always very handy to have a spot with a mirror by the door! And having a lamp in the area gives you additional lighting options and is so "warm and welcoming" at night ....

Such a pretty space. I posted earlier that I thought a round table would be great - and I still do. Another option sort of mentioned above would be a rounded chest of some sort on the wall directly across from the doors then a beautiful chair next to it on the left, sort of in front of the middle angle. With a lamp on the chest it would be a very welcoming entry. I hope one of these options will work for you.

Not sure if the table below is the right style but a google search turns up plenty round foyer tables.

Not sure if you play, or what you use the foyer for, but with a room that size it could be a music room -- what about a baby grand piano and bench with a runner and an arrangement of family photos?
