Wow, wallpaper

I was walking through my local Target in their "home" section and discovered that they are selling wallpaper - and it's gorgeous. They only have a few styles, but boy are they stylish, modern and have a neat texture. I don't have any idea if it's good quality or priced well. I'm so tempted but I refuse to hang wallpaper ever again after having stripped so much of it in the past.

Apparently they now make something you can paint on old wallpaper so you can lay down new wallpaper.

I love WP. But only in certain ways. I like accent walls with WP, bathrooms with WP, and a nice romantic bedroom with wallpaper on all four walls, like they did it in the Victorian era. But it has to be done just right.

Back in the 80s we wallpapered everything! lol. No more!

I just realized I posted a photo of the "vines" stencil above and then lazygardens posted a link to it. While I'm stilling waiting for 2 more wallpaper stencils I'm leaning toward the "vines" stencil. So you think it would work? I looked at the claires willow pattern today and it is just too tiny of a pattern to make a stencil from and don't have enough of a pattern of the willow to make a decent sized stencil. On the copyright thread a link was posted to a book with william morris design stencils in it. I spent time search for more info on it but can't confirm willow is actually one of the stencil. It also appears the stencils are small. If this was a small project I would maybe buy it. Gina, when we bought this house over 25 years ago there was wallpaper everywhere. Some my DH stripped off. Some was hard to do, so he just put drywall over it. So this dining room has a double layer of drywall with wallpaper inbetween. He really wants me to stencil. I'm very tired of thinking about this but want to make a decision soon to move the remodel along. I close my eyes at might and see a slideshow of patterns until I fall asleep.

Jeannie - I love the look of large scale paper and color in a powder room. There are many great inspiration photos on Houzz. Some of my favorite wallpaper is by Osborne & Little. I just ordered two for my house renovation project and wish I could use more. I think you can go dark or light colors with white fixtures and a dark floor. graywings - you are wonderful to remember my beloved O&L fish paper. I just checked that old link - wow, that was like a lifetime ago in our renovation project - which morphed from a 2 month project into a 7+ month project. I did order that fish paper - the charcoal background with white fish, and it will be installed the week after next. I can't wait to post photos of the new powder room!

If the room isn't that big, what about a stencil? Some of them are quite amazing these days, and the pattern does not look that difficult? Then you can get the perfect color you want. jeanninepc99, thanks for that link - yes that is the wallpaper - felt heavy and had texture. The colors and designs are wonderful. I didn't see that purple wallpaper there, but similar ones.

oakleyok - I was guilty of a lot of that wallpapering in the 80's and having to remove it was awful. I keep saying never again and then I saw this paper.

I'll have to check it out. I love WP, especially in bathrooms. I'm planning on using it in my new house, and have always ordered from Decorate Today(American Blind and Wallpaper). I would wager to say it's a lot pricier than what I can get thru them~no tax, no shipping. ;o)

patty_cakes - yes, I think American Blind and Wallpaper have excellent prices - but I wonder if they carry this brand or not? I guess there are other manufacturers with similar products.

I love wall paper but because I like to change things out so often, it's not a good investment (work wise) for me. Patty, not to put you on the spot but, where are some photo's of the new house?

Wallpaper removes easily if the wall sizing was used first. I love wall-paper I hope it is coming back.Its fun .
