Estrogen a wonderful face cream?

I saw an ad that stated that you could use some estrogen as a face cream and that it would do wonders for your skin as far as plumpness, elasticity and smoothness.

Anyone use Estrogen for your face and does it work?

Those into bioidentical hormones love estriol. It is a weak form of estrogen, a metabolic byproduct of the normal breakdown of the body's two stronger circulating estrogens, estrone and estradiol. Enormous quantities are necessary to preserve bone mass, but itty bitty bits dabbed on your aging face may improve the quality of your skin.

A .3% topical cream, available by prescription from compounding pharmacies, was applied daily to the wrinkly faces of a group of perimenopausal ladies. Not only did skin elasticity and firmness improve after six months of use, but also wrinkle depth and pore size decreased. Skin biopsy specimens (now how much did they pay these ladies for that?) showed increased numbers of collagen fibers. Serum hormone levels did not change and there was no evidence of any systemic hormone effects, suggesting that topical estriol is safe for use in women unable to use full-dose estrogen replacement therapy.

I'm unsure of how well any OTC estrogen cream product would work as they would be very limited in the allowed amount of estrogen allowed.

First thing -- TOSS out all of those face creams and potions you don't really use. If you're like most women I know, you could fill a good-sized trash can with stuff that's *how old?* or not your favorite. Keep *only* the stuff you use regularly. Then I'd go for boxes with lids -- Clear plastic shoe boxes are great because you can stack them and see inside. Then I'd do a recessed storage area behind a hinged full-length mirrow. If you can go 8-12" deep -- great. If you can only go stud-width deep -- that's OK too. Only one-layer of stuff, so everything's on the front row.

Hi, i have been researching natural progesterone creams for a week or so now, and they all say that progesterone cream rubbed into fatty areas of your body, thighs, upper arms and lower abdomen are fully absorbed into the body, and used as your body needs it, but estrogen will be produced by the body by taking progesterone, and its quite unusual for people to need to take extra estrogen, its also not advisable, as this has been the many problems for years in that women have been given estrogen by Drs thinking that it needs to be replenished during menopause, whereas now the general way of thinking is that this actually procudes estrogen dominance, Dr Lee goes into this in great detail and by eck it all makes sense at last. Anyone use Vaginal Estrogen Cream?

I have been using an estrogen gel for several months. It does help moisturize the vaginal tissues. I used it daily for I think a week, then cut back to a maintenance dose of once a week. I noticed a difference after a few weeks. The gel is a bit messy as it liquifies quicker than the cream, but I had a reaction to the cream. I get the gel from a compounding pharmacy. The gel doesn't tackle my other symptoms, the main one being hotflashes, so I take a low oral dose of estradiol daily. The only side effect is breast sensitivity(from the oral med), but I can live with that. I can't live with the hotflashes. I've been on HRT for several years. I tried many types of estrogen after trying natural remedies(and other meds)first with no success. I get my blood tests done regularly and take the lowest dose that stops my symptoms. I would go ahead and try the cream to see if it helps. Just pay attention to how your body reacts and let your doctor know how it's going.

Kim, I thought the same thing about Dove Pro Age. I'm going back to Dove for sensitive skin. Sue, I've been using moisturizers since I was 16, and I'm not stopping now! :-) Paula, those serum products are interesting. I haven't tried the Regenerist, but my daughter bought me one from Estee Lauder. I don't know if it's doing anything for my skin long-term, but it makes it feel like velvet. I also liked a sample of a Clinique serum that I tried.
