Estrogen and weight gain

From what I read, as your ovaries produce less estrogen, your body looks for other places to get needed estrogen. Fat cells in your body can produce estrogen, so your body works harder to convert calories into fat to increase estrogen levels.

I'm post-menopausal, but am on HRT (estrogen and progestin).

My question is, does the HRT give me enough estrogen so that my body doesn't need to make fat cells?

If I stopped the HRT, would my body be making more fat cells?
