Have y'all seen the beagle that won the dog show?

He's on the View right now and he is the cutest thing! I don't even know anyone that has a beagle. We had a Bassett once. Do y'all know any beagles? My niece has a Yorkie and I think that's a pretty perfect dog, but this beagle!! He's just too cute.

I watched the final evening of the Westminster dog show and was surprised they finally picked a Beagle. First time ever in the history of the show. He sure is cute with a lot of personality. And they said he was loud, always barking, but that is what a Beagle does. They also howl alot. But I like the breed anyway.

I have the fattest beagle you have ever seen. She is my heart. Wouldnt trade her for the world.

Many (((hugs))) to all of you. Have missed everyone. Thanks for sharing your lives, flowers, family, and pets. Love it! I sure would have enjoyed that plant exchange, Cindee. Our garden club has one each May. It's such fun. I, too, was not with you for the whole summer. This has been the worst ever summer time-wise. Each time I turned around, something HAD to be done. Art class ran into June (which is no good for me). Then it started again in Sept., but I told her there's just no way, so I got a two-month reprieve. Start again this coming Thursday and am taking my 15-year-old granddaughter Katie with me as a visitor. She has awesome talent and is as bad with art as we are with Hippis. I purchased another garden tractor this summer - I now have three and use them all -- there is just so much to take care of. Have also been picking up kids from school - into June this year, and come Sept. that started again. It's 1-1/2 hours r/t which really cuts into my days. Next year they will at least both be in the same school. Now I'm dog-visiting. My friend went to FL for many weeks and her husband pays me to come and be with them for an hour each day while he works. Oh, and I decided a truck would be in order, so purchased my son's 2000 black Dodge Dakota V-8 Sport. The price was right, and this will be better to carry mulch. It was hard to get with the Explorer (plus it's fun to drive). This way I can just drive up to the mulch heap and have them dump a bucket into the truck. Then I can drive it right to the garden that needs it. My days are all just cut up and I get nothing done. Lots of my plants got frosted, and the hippis were under blankets for several 30 degree days. Had some construction going on until beginning of Oct. and could barely squeeze through the furniture stacked around for probably two months. It was not a bad summer, actually a pretty good one, but it was stressful. For the most part I was healthy, and pretty much kept up with things like the 25-year-old I think I am -- not the 74-year-old that I just turned today. I neglected my orchids and many of the gardens, but the hippis grew and grew. I repotted most of them for the sake of better growing medium. I could probably exchange some orchids in the spring if I get a chance to repot. Right now they should be throwing spikes, so not a good time. Also, some Hippi bulbs. I have to say, this has been like sitting down at a nice table under some palm trees with warm breezes relaxing with a bunch of dear friends that enjoy the same things and understand eachother's obsessions. Soon we'll all be sharing tons of gorgeous pictures. I also have a bunch of bulbs coming from RC and want to order some of those on my wish list. But gotta run now and try to dig the rest of my dahlias.

Lisa, I did still have some flowers blooming before the snow, but they all look 'done' now, except for 3 small dianthus plants which merely look annoyed by the snow. I've been waiting for everything to finish up too. Now as soon as the mud dries up a little, I'll get busy out there. Unfortunately, we have rain in the forecast every other day....and possible snow in the forecast again for Thursday. Since we've already had one surprise snowfall this month, I doubt we'll have another. At least the rain fell too---between the snow and the rain we have almost 1.4" in the raingauge....it looks about like 1.38", but I rounded it up and that puts us at 50" for this year at our house. I'm thinking with the early cold and rain/snow, the poppy seeds and larkspur seeds will be happy and will sprout better this year than they did in last year's ultra-dry winter. Jay, I wish you'd gotten the rain too. My entire yard is one gigantic puddle today. Early in the day, the puddle was buried under the snow but since the snow has mostly melted, now it is just one big squishy mud puddle. We have rain in the forecast for every other day for the next week. Do y'all have rain in your forecast? I always try to buy stuff at the feed stores/farm supply stores if I can because you get so much more for your money. I won't be ready for spring for a while, although the garden clean-up won't take long once it dries up. I have a lot of ground to break for the new corn/pumpkin/cowpea bed and for the new bean bed. I also have a lot more leaves to gather from the woods. I was waiting for it to get cold enough that I could be sure the snakes wouldn't be out roaming around the woods at the same time I am in there 'harvesting' leaves. I think the snakes likely are hibernating by now....the latest I've ever seen one up and out and about in the woods was the weekend after Thanksgiving in 2005. I've planted 1 flat each of pansies, petunias, verbena, and dianthus, Two flats of snapdragons, 2 'Texas Pink' phlox, 2 'Veranda' skullcap, a Mex. lobelia, 'Dancing Lady' ginger, Peacok ginger, Philippine violet, Green-eyed rudbeckia, Sweet almond bush, Hawaiian snow bush, pothos, 2 Red Bleeding heart vines, a coral vine, a 'Candy Corn' vine, tuber vervain, 6 Ground orchids, 10 Pink spider lilies, 12 Yellow spider lilies, and 82 Red spider lilies. Trade plants that I've repotted because I don't have a place to plant are: 2 Heliconias, a Red leafed Hibiscus, a Yellow honeysuckle lonicera sempervirens, 'Tropicana' cana, 3 different crinums, 3 pots of iris, 2 Rubber vines, a Red Mex. flame vine, 2 kinds of lipstick plant, 2 caryopteris 'Dark Knight', found rose 'Old Gay Hill',and a Purple leafed Sweet potato vine. I'm going to another Plant Swap next Saturday, so may have more to plant then. I've got to build more beds this winter! Jim

Dog foot prints that won't come off wood floors

That's not a great picture but that does look like scratches, not footprints. It almost looks like the poly is de-bonding from the stain. If you're going to consider a recoat you probably should try a test area first. Besides clipping the dog's nails I've seen the suggestion that you also trim the fur that sticks out between their toe pads so they can get better traction without extending their claws.

I had a beagle mix as a child, my first dog. I named him after my favorite thing...Trix! LOL!!

Uno is one cool beagle, I have seen him in a few shows over the past year or so, that little guy is too cute for words. Did you hear him howling on the Today Show yesterday? What a hoot!

I feel like Whoopi said on The View yesterday.."couldn't you just eat him with a spoon!"..luv that! ;)

And darnit, Whoopi was sick today and didn't get to meet sweet Uno.

He is such a handsome boy!
I only watched one night of the dog show but I was impressed with him too.
A gal in town has one, she said he's high energy! He's cute too, but I dunno if he's as cute as Uno!

He is all over the news here because he lives close to St. Louis. He is a cute dog!!

We had beagles when I was a kid. They are sweet dogs, but so many of ours would get the scent of a rabbit and be gone.

I saw the beagle on the news and thought he was gorgeous! We had a beagle, KoKo, for 17 years, and he was a yapper - barked all the time, but what a great pet.

I love beagles almost as much as pugs. Uno was a cutie & I'm so glad a beagle finally won. I'm so tired of poodles always getting picked & they're in 2 categories too, which seems unfair when 2 of the final 7 are poodles. JMHO.

We have a book store that is called Beagle Books; my DD#2 has Chester the Beagle. We were out in their sailboat in Oregon a couple of years ago, and Chester fell overboard. He was wearing a life jacket, but you should have seen him paddle!

We have beagles galore around here, mostly owned by hunters. They do howl! But they're very sweet. I thought the one who won at Westminster was adorable. He looked so soft!

I like to watch the dog shows and see all the interesting breeds, but I'm not sure I saw "Uno" this time around?

My friend and SIL have beagles, and honestly, I'd never get one. My friends howls ALL THE TIME!! It ridiculous! My SIL's doesn't howl as much, but is stubborn with a capital S! She is good around her kids, but attacked a dog in their neighborhood. This may not be a Beagle trait, and just their dogs, but they aren't my favorite!!! I've seen too much to want one!

Please don't take this wrong it is meant to be helpful. You said that your dog is overweight. You also said she was the love of your life. Take her to the vet and put her on a diet. Unfortunately, she will not live a long life if she is obese. I would hate to see her with all the human diseases that obesity causes.

One of my e friends has a beagle. My dog, Bobby, is half beagle. They are fairly common around here...hunters have them. One of the neighbors had a pack of them when I moved here and they always ran on my property and I hated them. I feel like if you want to hear that noise, buy your own property to run them on...not on someone else's.
