3 months & No Period

Hello,

I am 41 and my last period was in February. I took 3 at home preg tests and one at my drs office and all were negative. She said if I haven't had a period by the end of May we will look at some other others. I have had one child which is now age 12 and I do not want any more so I have the following questions:

1. Has anyone else gone to their doctor about this and if so what have they said?
2. If you having no period does that mean that you are not ovulating and can't get pregnant?
3. Is there any thought that birth control pills may help get the period back up and going?

Is it common too have you're menstrual cycle twice in one month during premenopause

I am going through something similar. I just turned 42 last week and haven't had my cycle for about 3 mos. I took an hpt. Came back neg. So I put it in the back of my mind since last year, my doc said I was in "peri" which was disappointing as I've been divorced for 8 years and was looking forward to starting my life with my husband and having another child. But I couldn't shake why I've missed 3 mos. of cycles with nothing. Could I have gone from peri to menopause within a year. So,went to the doc, who took labs and urine. Urine was neg. & labs said my estrogen levels were low and so was my thyroid, so told me to come back for more labs. This time, they did a blood test for preg which came back neck and my AMH level was low. I was prepared again to accept that I was not pregnant but then I started having other symptoms, weight gain, sore nipples, milky discharge. Ok, so I began doing research, even though it was online, research is research as I compared findings from experts and forums. What I found is that there are many women our age who have experienced this, negative testing over a period of several months and with the doctor telling them they aren't preg. Usually they haven't had a physical which would put all the wondering and doubt to rest. I didn't have a physical b/c the doc I was seeing isn't my normal doc. So I've opted to wait. The short of all of this is that you could be...we could be pregnant, even with negative tests. Nothing is 100%. There is always room for error. The only thing that will ease my mind is having a physical which I have scheduled on Aug. 6th. It is very emotionally draining, no matter what your desire is. I just believe we have to educate ourselves and allow our minds to go to a place of peace that it will all work out for the best in the end. If I am, which I feel that I am, because I can feel little twitches in my belly in places where I haven't before. Having been pregnant before, I know the feeling and I don't recall gas feeling like that. But you know, as women, there are just times when you sense something and you just can't seem to let it go...for me, that's now. What has happened with you, Meldy723, since May? What have you discovered?

Hi! My name is Karen and I've posted some questions on the geranium forum and got some good advice, but noone is terribly chatty over there so I was wondering if this is a good forum for me to join. Are you taking new members?? I'm in IL and we started over 700 (agh!)pelargoniums, or whatever they are called. We call them geraniums. Anyway, I was told to pinch and went to town and I hope I did it right because I have some sad plants. And it's about time to start hardening off...and I haven't a clue what I'm doing! We have two portable greenhouses outside with heaters in them and we put the impatiens and pansies, I think, in there. But the geraniums are inside under grow lights and in sunny windows (as sunny as it gets during the long awaited IL 'Spring' if that's what you call it!) Can anyone help me keep them alive?

Very pleased to have found this site...it’s literally the only one on the web with real women talking about what is really happening to them in this stage of life - the only one I can find anyway!! Amazing to see the diversity of experience which does not fit the textbook or what we are commonly told...I shouldn’t be surprised really, people always spread so widely to each side of what is ‘typical’ in pretty much everything. It’s reassuring anyway even if a tad strange to find it on a house decorating website. I’m 47 and might be in menopause, or Perimenopause...last period was in May and very light. Before that had one in November and a super heavy one in September - 3 weeks long and not fun. I had a D&C in October and then an iron infusion in Nov as I felt so lousy and had v low iron, made an amazing difference - totally recommend that if heavy periods wipe out your iron. No wonder women are tired quite frankly with this kind of crazy stuff going on in our lives! Anyway...I have a question to ask everyone - with all these periods coming and going, does it mean that you are still fertile, or ovulating, on and off as well? Even when in your 50’s? Has anyone’s Dr suggested they should still take bc meds to prevent pregnancy? I’m asking from the other perspective - in hopes that I might still have a glimmer of fertility - if I get any more periods :) Thanks

I am not sure how old this forum is but it seems that not too many read some of the posts here. Anyway, I think what you are going through is pretty normal for peri..I am 48 and my periods have suddenly changed as well. I just got over mine too and it feels as if it is on its way again. I also get the bloating, cramping, irritability, fatigue, and on and on..OH and did I mention nausea??? When was the last time you had your annual check up from your OBGYN? I doesn't hurt to get whatever is bothering you checked out just for peace of mind but I wouldn't worry too much because irregular periods are a sure sign of peri-menopause. Mine are now coming later and later but as soon as it is over I feel like it is coming again!! As for your swollen tender breast,is it just the one breast?

You currently have a portable exchange tank. Is there a reason for this (community restrictions, drainage problem, etc) other than it was there from previous homeowner. Greensand filters are a pain in the butt. They say to re-bed the sulfur cleer every 3-6 years but they can go much longer. I have used these type airation/oxidizing filters for 20 years and have great success with them. They need to backwash every other day (usually 2 BW @ 10-15 min each. You do need at least 40-60psi from well to effectively backwash these filters. This system can also draw in bleach to clean the media and extend bed life. I have had a similar type system (super s) on 4 people, 2ppm FE and .5ppm H2S for 13 years and still working great. If the price they gave you is installed that is a very good price. Many type air/oxidizing filters sold on the internet will go for $2000+.
